(THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION)
The purpose is to perform complex records management work in the Hampton Circuit Court Clerk's office. Requires being deputized to administer oaths and conduct routine transactions on behalf of or in place of the Clerk.
Minimum Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years front-facing, customer service-related experience, preferably in a clerk's office.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to deal effectively with challenging and changing deadlines.
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
  • Must successfully pass a background check before any offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements
  • Requires the ability to prepare effective written communication and the ability to communicate effectively verbally. Must be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational and follow-up skills, and have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Must be able to create and maintain harmonious relationships with diverse populations.
  • Must be tactful and diplomatic while assisting team members and display integrity and good judgment.
  • Knowledge of the judicial system, legal experience strongly preferred, detail-oriented, highly accurate, and good at juggling multiple tasks in a results-oriented teamwork environment.
  • This is a non-exempt position.
  • The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during city emergencies, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
