Data Governance Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Data Governance Manager to lead enterprise data governance initiatives and help establish strong data management practices across the organization. The ideal candidate will drive data quality, compliance, governance standards, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure data is accurate, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
This role will work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, analytics teams, compliance teams, and IT leadership to develop and maintain an effective data governance framework.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, and standards

Establish and manage data quality, data stewardship, metadata, and data lineage processes

Collaborate with business and technical teams to define data ownership and governance accountability

Ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements including GDPR, CCPA, and internal governance policies

Lead initiatives around master data management (MDM) and data lifecycle management

Monitor data governance KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives

Support audit, risk, and compliance activities related to enterprise data management

Work closely with analytics and reporting teams to improve data accuracy and accessibility

Implement and manage governance tools such as Collibra, Microsoft Purview, or Informatica

Facilitate governance councils, stakeholder meetings, and executive reporting

Create and maintain documentation related to governance standards, policies, and procedures

Partner with cloud and engineering teams supporting platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, AWS, and enterprise databases

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field

7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or data quality roles

Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and best practices

Experience with data catalog, metadata, and governance tools

Strong knowledge of SQL, databases, and data integration concepts

Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Experience working in Agile environments

Preferred Qualifications

Banking or financial services industry experience

Experience with regulatory and compliance environments

Familiarity with BI and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau

Knowledge of master data management (MDM) solutions
