The Network Engineering Department at Televisa Univision is looking for a Master Control and Distribution Systems Engineer to join our team!
Master Control and Distribution Systems Engineer is responsible for but not limited to the uptime, configuration, preventive and corrective maintenance of file based on-air media storage and play-out automation systems; as well as all Baseband, Encoding and Transmission equipment in Master Control, Encoding, Distribution Systems, Satellite Antennas, RF Systems and Transport Stream and IP based Video Systems. Responsible for supporting cloud playout and distribution in multi-vendor IaaS and SaaS distribution and production environments used by Univision.
About You
You have experience in developing and maintaining on prem and cloud-based playout and distributions workflows, encoding and transmission systems and are familiar with DAI. You want to learn and grow on a team supporting a truly global media company.
Your Day-day
  • You will work with other engineers to install, maintain, and evolve our cloud-based video playout, encoding, and distribution platforms.
  • You will support microservice-based video processing workflows in a cloud environment.
  • You will investigate and resolve encoding issues in a video streaming environment.
  • You will work on maintenance, and continuous improvement of cloud-based video playout, encoding, and distribution platforms.
  • You will drive issues to resolution and provide root cause analysis if needed.
  • You will support and maintain IP-based broadcast infrastructures utilizing SMPTE ST 2110 standards, including video (2110-20), audio (2110-30/31), and ancillary data (2110-40).
  • You will ensure proper configuration and troubleshooting of PTP (Precision Time Protocol - SMPTE ST 2059) timing systems within IP broadcast environments.
  • You will investigate and resolve complex encoding, packet loss, jitter, multicast, and playback issues across IP and OTT distribution systems.
  • You will identify process improvement opportunities and drive automation initiatives to increase efficiency and reliability.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Univision is a 24x7 media company. This position requires regularly scheduled work periods including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

You Have
  • BS degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Cloud experience. GCP, AWS.
  • Proficiency with server and workstation operation, configuration, and support.
  • In depth understanding of digital audio and video signals, compression and transmission methodologies, codecs and standards.
  • Experience with SCTE messaging (104, 35, 224)
  • Experience with AVC, HEVC, VP9, AV1, AAC video and audio codec standards
  • Understanding of various multimedia transport protocols such as RTP, RTMP, SRT, UDP, HLS and Zixi.
  • Ability to follow through on support requests in a timely manner, escalating to other members of the team or manufacturer support when appropriate.

  • Ability to prioritize and address multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic work environment.

  • Strong communication skills in English (written & spoken); Spanish is a plus.
