Job Description:
What You'll be Doing:
Operate heavy equipment in support of University department projects, gravel pit operations, and utility repairs. Perform maintenance, construction, and repair activities related to campus streets, roads, parking lots, and parking garages. Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of street signage and pavement markings. Assist with snow and ice removal on campus streets, roads, parking lots, parking garages, and airport facilities.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified Candidates Will Need:
  • HS Diploma/GED
  • 4+ years relevant work experience operating heavy equipment required. (I.e., backhoe, bulldozer, 1 1/2 ton trucks, front end loader etc.)

Skills Needed:
  • Valid US Driver's License
  • Ability To Obtain a Commercial Driver's License (Class B) Within 90 Days of Hire
  • Maintain A CDL License, Including Successful Completion of Required Medical Examinations
  • Ability to obtain Competent Person Certification for excavations
  • FAA Certification in Airport Safety and Snow Removal
  • Leadership Abilities
  • Good Verbal Communication Skills
  • Ability To Give Verbal and Written Instructions
  • Ability To Read and Interpret Maps, Blueprints and Schematics
  • Preventative Maintenance of heavy equipment
  • Computer skills
  • Able to lift and carry objects up to 100 lbs. frequently
  • Extreme visual concentration
  • Ability to work outdoors 90% of the time or more
  • Ability to climb in and out of equipment frequently daily
  • Position requires working in all types of weather conditions, manual dexterity and coordination for equipment operation, frequent sitting on equipment
  • Knowledge of campus buildings and locations preferred
