Position: Student Attendance and Intervention Specialist

Location: 2410 S. 9th Street, Lafayette, IN 47909


Student Attendance and Intervention Specialist


Position Summary: The Attendance Officer is responsible for monitoring and maintaining accurate student attendance records, ensuring compliance with school policies, and proactively addressing absenteeism. This part-time role involves communicating with parents, identifying patterns of chronic truancy, implementing intervention strategies, and collaborating with administration and counseling staff to support student success and academic engagement.


Core Responsibilities
  • Monitor attendance: Assist front office staff in tracking and maintaining accurate daily and meeting (period) attendance records for all students.
  • Maintain confidentiality: Ensure students' attendance privacy is protected.
  • Enforce policies: Ensure compliance with the school's attendance policy and regulations.
  • Communicate with parents: Contact parents and guardians regarding student tardiness and absences, and seek their support to improve attendance.
  • Identify and address issues: Identify patterns of chronic absenteeism and other attendance discrepancies, and report them to administration.
  • Implement interventions: Work with students to address the root causes of poor attendance through targeted support.
  • Support student success: Assist with various student support needs

Terms of Employment
  • Employment Status: Part-time, non-exempt.
  • Work Schedule: Follows the school-year calendar (180 student days).
  • Commitment: Adherence to the policies and procedures outlined in the Lafayette Catholic School System Faculty and Staff Handbook.
