Job description

Summary

The Development Coordinator builds and strengthens community relationships that advances the mission of Ronald McDonald House Ann Arbor. This position manages relationships with local McDonald's Owner/Operators and restaurant crews, develops engagement initiatives that increases fundraising participation, supports volunteer and community outreach, and assists with the planning and execution of signature fundraising events. The Development Coordinator serves as a key organizational ambassador by cultivating partnerships, delivering presentations, and fostering collaboration locally and across the Ronald McDonald House network.

Essential Job Functions


McDonald's Relationship Management and Restaurant Engagement

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for local McDonald's Owner/Operators, supervisors, and restaurant teams
  • Conduct regular restaurant visits to build relationships, provide support, recognize successes, and identify opportunities for increased round-up participation
  • Design, implement, and evaluate restaurant incentive programs and competitions that increase participation in fundraising initiatives
  • Present at Owner/Operator, supervisor, and crew meetings and other gatherings to educate and inspire participation in fundraising initiatives
  • Track program outcomes and analyze data to continuously improve engagement strategies and generate engagement and return-on-investment reports for internal and partner audiences
  • Coordinate stewardship efforts, including a monthly newsletter, quarterly recognition programs, thank-you initiatives, and ongoing communication with restaurant partners
  • Drive marketing and work with McDonald's Ad agency to promote McDonald's-related content for Round-Up for Ronald McDonald House, Shamrock Shake and Penny Per Happy Meal
  • Participate in McDonald's Think Tank meetings with peers from other Ronald McDonald House chapters and collaborate across the Ronald McDonald House network to share best practices and support efforts toward statewide program unification
  • Travel regularly throughout the region to conduct restaurant visits, attend meetings, deliver materials, and strengthen relationships with McDonald's Owner/Operators and restaurant teams

Third-Party Events & Signature Event Support

  • Serve as the primary relationship for third-party events (TPE) working with event contacts to support the solicitation, coordination, and stewardship of TPE fundraising and community-led fundraisers
  • Represent and speak on behalf of the mission of Ronald McDonald House Ann Arbor at third-party fundraising events, community appearances, and engagement opportunities to promote the mission and strengthen community relationships
  • Support the Special Events Manager in executing signature fundraising events throughout the year


School-based Fundraising, Cause Marketing & Peer-to-Peer Engagement

  • Increase fundraising engagement of student organizations, service clubs, and community partners through peer-to-peer and third-party event fundraising.
  • Coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator to cultivate relationships with schools, colleges, student organizations, businesses, and community groups for fundraising initiatives.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of partner interactions, presentations, and engagement activities in the organization's database and tracking systems
  • Perform other duties incidental to the work outlined in this position description as requested by the Director of Development
  • Contribute to Ronald McDonald House Ann Arbor team efforts by maintaining positive, supportive, and flexible working relationships with staff and volunteers in the mutual pursuit of providing comfort and care to families of seriously ill or injured children

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, nonprofit management, marketing, public relations, business, or a related field preferred
  • One to three years of experience in nonprofit development, community engagement, fundraising, marketing, or relationship management preferred
  • Fast-food or quick-service restaurant (QSR) experience preferred but not required
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to educate, inspire, and engage diverse audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills
  • Experience developing programs, campaigns, or engagement initiatives preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM/database systems
  • Valid driver's license, reliable personal transportation, and proof of insurance required for local and regional travel
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for meetings, community activities, and special events
