What is a marketing operations manager?

A marketing operations manager supervises marketing department staff to maintain productivity and smooth operations. Unlike a marketing project manager who focuses on a particular marketing campaign, a marketing operations manager oversees the overall marketing department and ensures the staff meets their goals. Job duties include evaluating market trends to develop new marketing strategies, creating department goals, delegating project tasks to employees, and training new marketing employees. Qualifications for this career include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field, extensive marketing experience, and leadership skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a marketing operations manager?

To thrive as a Marketing Operations Manager, you need expertise in marketing strategy, data analysis, project management, and a bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field. Familiarity with marketing automation platforms (like HubSpot or Marketo), CRM systems, and analytics tools is typically required, along with certifications such as Salesforce or Google Analytics. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help drive cross-functional collaboration and process optimization. These skills ensure seamless marketing execution, data-driven decision-making, and alignment between marketing initiatives and overall business objectives.

What are some common challenges faced by marketing operations managers when aligning marketing technology with organizational goals?

Marketing Operations Managers often encounter challenges when ensuring that marketing technology stacks effectively support broader business objectives. Integrating new tools with existing systems, maintaining data accuracy across platforms, and securing buy-in from cross-functional teams can be complex. Additionally, staying updated with rapidly evolving marketing technologies while balancing cost and utility requires ongoing attention. Successful Marketing Operations Managers proactively communicate with stakeholders, regularly evaluate tech performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement to address these hurdles.

Description:

The Opportunity

Behind every great marketing campaign is an operation that makes it all work.

CeriFi is looking for a hands-on Marketing Operations Manager to help power the systems, campaigns, and processes behind our growing portfolio of brands. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing Operations, you'll work at the intersection of marketing, technology, data, and execution—helping our teams turn strategy into campaigns that launch smoothly and perform as intended.

This is an ideal role for someone who loves getting into the details. You'll build campaigns, configure marketing technology, QA customer journeys, support reporting, and help create scalable processes that make our Marketing organization more efficient.

If you're energized by marketing technology, love solving problems, and get satisfaction from making sure everything works exactly the way it should, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Own

Marketing Automation & Campaign Execution

  • Build and deploy email campaigns across CeriFi's portfolio of brands.
  • Execute segmentation, dynamic lists, engagement programs, and automations within established marketing automation frameworks.
  • Build landing pages, forms, email templates, and other campaign assets.
  • Perform end-to-end campaign QA, including links, personalization, segmentation, tracking, and customer journeys.
  • Monitor scheduled automations and proactively identify issues before they impact campaign performance.
  • Support webinar, event, product launch, and other integrated marketing campaigns.

MarTech Operations

  • Help build, configure, and administer CeriFi's growing marketing technology stack, including platforms such as ZoomInfo, CallRail, Qualified, Salesforce, and other tools.
  • Support integrations and lead handoffs between marketing platforms and Salesforce.
  • Execute routing rules, platform configurations, and other operational requirements based on established architecture and business needs.
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day platform and campaign issues, partnering with internal teams when additional support is needed.
  • Help evaluate how our tools and processes are working and identify opportunities to make them better.

Reporting & Data Support

  • Support cross-channel reporting and dashboard development by compiling accurate, timely performance data.
  • Help ensure campaign tracking and data capture are configured correctly before launch.
  • Partner with Marketing Operations leadership to surface trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain strong data and reporting discipline across marketing programs.

Process, QA & Documentation

  • Create and maintain clear documentation for marketing systems, campaign processes, and workflows.
  • Develop training materials and resources that help teams use marketing technology effectively.
  • Champion strong QA practices across campaigns and marketing operations.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce manual work, and improve operational efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the Senior Marketing Automation Manager, Email Lifecycle Marketing Manager, Growth Marketing Managers, Creative, Content, and other teams to bring campaigns to life.
  • Help translate campaign requirements into executable marketing operations tasks.
  • Coordinate across multiple brands, stakeholders, and priorities to keep work moving and launches on schedule.
  • Bring a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset to every project.
Requirements:

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who enjoys the combination of marketing, technology, and execution—and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves.

You'll likely bring:

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing operations, marketing automation, email marketing, or a related digital marketing role.
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Account Engagement (Pardot) or a comparable marketing automation platform.
  • Experience building email campaigns, landing pages, forms, segmentation, and automated programs.
  • Exposure to marketing and sales technology platforms such as Salesforce, ZoomInfo, CallRail, Qualified, or comparable tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and a serious commitment to campaign QA.
  • Comfort working with data, reporting, and marketing performance metrics.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities across brands.
  • Excellent documentation skills and the ability to turn processes into clear, repeatable instructions.
  • A collaborative mindset and comfort working within established technology frameworks and strategic roadmaps.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and an interest in continuously learning new marketing technologies.

What Success Looks Like

In Your First 90 Days

  • Build a strong understanding of CeriFi's brands, marketing technology stack, campaign processes, and automation environment.
  • Become comfortable executing campaigns and marketing operations requests across the portfolio.
  • Establish strong working relationships with Marketing Automation, Lifecycle, Growth Marketing, Creative, and other key partners.
  • Develop confidence navigating the systems, workflows, and QA standards that keep campaigns moving.

Within Six Months

  • Independently execute high-quality campaigns across multiple brands with consistent attention to detail and QA.
  • Become a reliable resource for day-to-day MarTech configuration, campaign builds, and troubleshooting.
  • Improve documentation and processes that make Marketing Operations more efficient and scalable.
  • Contribute to reporting and data workflows that give leadership better visibility into marketing performance.

Within Your First Year

  • Help create a more scalable and efficient Marketing Operations function across CeriFi.
  • Improve campaign execution through stronger processes, documentation, automation, and technology.
  • Become a trusted partner across Marketing for getting complex campaigns and operational initiatives across the finish line.
  • Contribute to a MarTech ecosystem that enables CeriFi's Marketing organization to move faster, smarter, and with greater consistency.
