Principal Associate, Market Research

Principal Associate, Market Research

Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate to join our Brand Insights team. In this role you will provide consumer insights that inform marketing, advertising, and brand building strategies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing, managing, and presenting primary research, including brand health tracking, creative testing, in-market ad performance, and ad-hoc custom research.

What you'll do

  • Lead the design and execution of market research projects, deciding on appropriate research methodologies, drafting research briefs, leading all project logistics and coordination with internal and external partners/vendors

  • Lead the analysis and reporting of market research projects, conducting analyses, writing reports, and presenting insights, influencing others through storytelling and impactful insights that drive discussion and business action

  • Deliver actionable insights utilizing a variety of brand measurement sources, including brand health trackers, creative/advertising pre-testing, in-market advertising and media effectiveness studies, and ad-hoc custom qualitative and quantitative studies

  • Leverage data and insights across a variety of primary, secondary and syndicated sources to bolster insights and recommendations delivered to internal partners

  • Provide ongoing consumer research expertise and consultation to internal partners and senior leaders in support of marketing strategy decisions

  • Contribute and continually update your knowledge of evidence-based marketing to refine Capital One's brand strategy and measurement approaches

This role requires 10% travel within the North American Region

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in a primary market research role on either the supplier side or client side, planning, executing, and presenting studies

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in a primary market research role on either the supplier side or client side, planning, executing, and presenting studies

  • Experience leading research focused on brand health tracking, advertising performance, and creative marketing testing, ideally in the financial services industry

  • Experience working with analytical tools (such as Python, R, SAS, SPSS, SQL, Q)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Associate, Market Research


Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Associate, Market Research


New York, NY: $131,800 - $150,500 for Principal Associate, Market Research


Chicago, IL: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Associate, Market Research








Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
