Profile Summary

This supporting research role conducts all phases of primary and secondary research (i.e., researches, analyzes and reports on data - both quantitative and qualitative data), providing strategic input into Voya's businesses. It includes delivery of high quality and timely research analyses, reports with actionable recommendations. Further, the role requires strong analytic reasoning skills and ability to understand the market, business context, while utilizing multi-source synthesis of all relevant information / data (both primary and secondary insights), to tell a compelling story that leads to specific business recommendations - comfortably presenting findings to all levels of management and large audiences.

More specifically, this position researches, analyzes, reports on, and tells a story with qualitative and quantitative data sources to derive insights that drive critical business decisions. Delivering high quality research, recommendations through reporting that is visually appealing, easy to understand and tells a coherent story is critical. Assists with survey design and the development of methodologies, strategies and recommendations for conducting research effectively and efficiently as well as ensuring usability of the information. Partners with and presents results to a variety of business partners including business leaders. Learns about the organization's various businesses (i.e., business model, competitive context, growth initiatives, etc.) and research needs, and reflects business knowledge in all communications (e.g., presentations, reports).

Profile Description:

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative primary market research; collecting, managing and analyzing data from the marketplace and delivering recommendations to various business teams. Use online survey software tools where applicable (for programming surveys, monitoring fieldwork, pulling data / running analyses and reporting).
  • Utilize strategic thinking skills to write headlines in reports and interpret data using statistical software and other tools (e.g., SPSS, , Excel, text analytics software, agile survey platforms, etc.) especially with regard to leading the execution of customer satisfaction tracking programs, brand health tracking, omnibus surveys, advertising/message testing and thought leadership research studies (including both b2c and b2b customers).Conduct analyses of research and customer data (data tables, correlations, stat testing, etc.)
  • Tell story with data and comfortable presenting results to a variety of constituents (i.e., client- facing). Leverage the use of / integrate secondary data and market/industry trends where appropriate in primary research reports. Write headlines and executive summaries independently and make connections with strategic business initiatives / recommendations.
  • Determines the most appropriate sample frame / sample sizes, respondent screening criteria, response scales, market research methods based on the specific research and business objectives while providing critical data-informed decision-making insights for marketing, product and sales, etc.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies (i.e. AI-enabled tools) and methods to streamline research workflows and increase speedtoinsight without compromising rigor or compliance standards.
  • Participate in development of enhancements to support continuous improvement / enterprise growth and transformation initiatives and create/maintain research programs that are valuable, effective and cost efficient. Participate on business team meetings to leverage the use of research. Provide input on sales ideas and competitive issues.
    • Identify new methodologies that can drive strategic growth and innovate the Insights team's offerings.
    • Contribute to best-in-class survey writing, response scaling techniques, etc. to continue to elevate the work both within and outside Voya.
    • Participate in the development and execution of analysis plans.
    • Project management of various research programs simultaneously
  • Independently lead research meetings (e.g., brainstorm meetings, presentations of data, etc.) with internal clients, external clients, research suppliers, partners.
  • Identify proprietary and secondary stats and research findings that can be leveraged in executive presentations, thought leadership papers, RFP responses, external media / press releases, etc.
  • Execute quality control / data checking procedures for all research reports and deliverables for entire team.
  • Submit / re-submit research deliverables to compliance / brand review, incorporate edits based on final review.
  • Submit purchase orders, job requisitions, etc. for research supplier contracts.
  • Efficiently conduct and report on ad hoc research requests and participate in other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Robust academic track record (Bachelor's degree required). Studies in the area of: Marketing, Market Research, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Behavioral Science, Life Sciences, or Psychology (cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher). Master's Degree highly preferred.
  • 3-5 years primary strategic market research, business/competitive intelligence experience. Financial services experience a plus.
  • 3+ years' experience using statistical techniques, writing and programming surveys, developing analytic plans and writing research reports.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with innate curiosity about market trends, financial services, and consumer behavior.
  • Strong proficiency in research analyses and programs (e.g., SPSS) and solid working knowledge of statistics (e.g., significance testing, correlation, regression, Discrete Choice, MaxDiff, clustering) and research methods.
  • Expertise with Excel (formulas) and graphical PowerPoint Presentations. Knowledge of Tableau or other data visualization programs a plus.
  • Ability to synthesize data and simplify findings to communicate key insights to business partners.
  • Highly detail oriented (i.e., pay close attention to the specifics of problems, questions and projects). Excellent at multi-tasking and working under tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable with numbers and numerical relationships.
  • Aptitude and willingness to quickly learn new skills and information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to present and explain data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong experience with programming online surveys / online survey tools: Alchemer, Agile research platforms, CX Management Platforms such as Qualtrics, etc.
  • Experience using AIassisted analytics, survey design, or visualization tools (e.g., generative AI, machine learning-powered platforms) with a strong understanding of when human oversight is required to ensure accuracy and responsible use.

Compensation Pay Disclosure:

Voya is committed to pay that's fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate's geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
