18.40 USD Hourly
Job Summary:
This seasonal position is responsible for ensuring exemplary customer service to the boaters and guests of Washington Sailing Marina. The Marina Rental Staff oversees day to day operations such as launching boats, basic site maintenance and handling the cash register. This position requires vigilant attentiveness to our patrons, love for the outdoors, and an eagerness to be by the water!
The marina is open daily and evening and weekend hours are required for all applicants.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in rental dock- launching non-motorized boats, stacking kayaks, and securing equipment
  • Help guests with appropriate PFDs and make sure they fit properly
  • Provide brief instruction on use of rental equipment
  • Assist or lead in boat rescues when necessary
  • Maintain marina maintenance such as cleaning, weeding, and removing trash
  • Participate in evening tours as needed
  • Perform administrative tasks as assigned by Marina Manager.
  • Operate store register, handle cash transactions, and book reservations.
  • Screen incoming calls or correspondence and respond independently when possible
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests, while directing customer issues to supervisor or unit manager
  • Maintain awareness of safety issues, and report them immediately to your manager.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
  • Partial High School education; High School Diploma/G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
  • Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and coworkers.
  • Prior customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management.
  • Must be able to swim and be comfortable in the water.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (can be trained upon hired)

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit.
  • Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for the entire work day.
  • Working in wet and slippery conditions. Frequently working in an outdoor, hot, and damp environment.
  • Frequently immerses hands in water.
  • Withstanding temperature extremes in outdoor environments and inclement weather.
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
