Job Description:

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer III A220 (Contract) to join our Final Assembly Line based in Mobile, AL.

Responsible for working inside a multi-function team to answer technical questions regarding final assembly of the A220 aircraft. This position will also be responsible to validate workbook modification, assist with tooling, assist with troubleshooting, part configuration validation, nonconformity research, and ensure a complete plan is established for outstanding actions pertaining to the Methods Department.

Your working environment:

Nearby on 'Airbus Way' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus' strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.


Your challenges:

  • Provide technical support to production.

  • Create rework orders.

  • Lead troubleshooting meetings.

  • Establish LDDs for RNCs with Operation Leader agreement.

  • Investigate workbook modifications and submit changes to Change Managers.

  • Handle non-conformities within the assigned area.

  • Ensure proper support with MES (Issues/Snags).

  • Establish/verify the technical content of BOIs, Workbooks, and RNCs, and provide feedback to responsible actors.

  • Exchange information regularly with APT (Autonomous Production Team) to ensure a "one team" concept.

  • Analyze current status and create reports.

  • Manage continuous improvement measures with recurring routines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Support projects as outlined by management.

  • Perform independent research and participate in the development of solutions to solve complex problems.

  • Support PPS actions outlined by APT (Autonomous Production Team).

  • Ensure completion of project roadmaps.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ensure Poly-Poly end of year requirements are met.

  • Ensure all training outlined by HR and Management are completed in a timely manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Responsible for evaluating multiple options and making recommendations to management based on the most appropriate processes and methods.
  • May serve as project lead on various assignments or initiatives.


Your boarding pass:

  • A bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Engineering Technology or equivalent years of experience is required.

  • Must have a minimum of 6+ years of experience in Aerospace, preferably in an Aerospace Final Assembly Line.

  • Airframe and Powerplant Certification preferred.

  • Knowledge of aerospace processes and methods.

  • Knowledge of common aerospace Tools (SAP, Catia, Enovia).

  • Familiarity with the American aviation market.

  • Knowledge about aircraft structures, systems, electrical, and/or cabin installations.

  • Knowledge of rules for aircraft design and manufacturing.

  • Intercultural experience.

  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and practices.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Travel abroad for work and training is possible.


Physical Requirements:

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice, potentially internationally.

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
