Morskate Manufacturing is a family-run structural steel manufacturer located in Ponoka, Alberta. Specializing in structural, agricultural and custom orders, we take pride in the ability to be adaptable and flexible when designing and building orders to meet the customers exact requirements.

Position Summary

Morskate Manufacturing is expanding in a big way! We're adding 90,000+ sq. ft. to our facility and investing in exciting new technology as we continue to grow. With this expansion comes an exciting opportunity—we are currently seeking a motivated and hard-working Inventory Coordinator
to join our growing team.


Reporting to the Procurement & Inventory Supervisor, you will be responsible for the accurate and efficient receipt of incoming raw materials, components, and other deliveries to the steel manufacturing facility. This role ensures materials meet quality standards and are properly recorded and stored. If you are a detail-oriented, dependable individual who enjoys working with your hands and keeping things organized, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

  • Overlook/Oversee incoming shipments using forklifts or cranes.
  • Inspect materials for damage or defects and verify against purchase orders or delivery slips.
  • Document and report discrepancies or damages to the appropriate departments.
  • Enter receiving data into inventory or ERP systems as well as cut off from the shop.
  • Accurately enter all incoming paperwork into our system and promptly hand it off to the relevant team members.
  • Label and organize materials in designated storage areas.
  • Communicate with procurement, quality control, and production departments.
  • Inform the purchaser of low inventory levels and assist with organizing and restocking materials in the yard.
  • Inform the purchaser of any backorder situations or missing items to ensure timely resolution and project continuity.
  • Manage yard inventory counts and stock rotation.
  • Maintain stock levels in vending machines for shop supplies and restock as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving areas.
  • Order material and parts under the control and supervision of Supervisor or Operations Manager.
  • Safe operation of overhead crane and mobile equipment for material movement.
  • Follow safety protocols and proper handling procedures for heavy or hazardous materials.
  • Will be required to work outside in various weather conditions.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in receiving or warehouse operations, ideally in an industrial or steel setting.
  • Ability to read packing slips, bills of lading, and purchase orders.
  • Forklift and/or crane certification (preferred).
  • Basic computer skills; ERP or warehouse management system experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
