Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for Experienced Manufacturing Engineers to join our team in BDS Manufacturing Engineering Capability located in various BDS sites including: Albuquerque, NM, Arlington, VA, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX, El Segundo, CA, Everett, WA, Houston, TX, Huntington Beach, CA, Huntsville, AL, Kennedy Space Center, FL, Kent, WA, Mesa, AZ, New Orleans, LA, Ogden, UT, Oklahoma City, OK, Palmdale, CA, Philadelphia, PA, San Antonio, TX, St. Charles, IL, and West Hills, CA.

This position reports to the BDS Manufacturing Engineering Capability and the selected individuals will have the opportunity to support multiple BDS ME Home Office Functional Initiatives such as Work Instruction Improvement, ME Upskilling, and other Technical Excellence activities impacting ME People, Processes, & Tools. The ideal candidates will have strong balance between technical skills, and strength in communications, presentation, creativity, vision, and work ethic.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements production and tooling methodologies.

  • Develops, identifies and implements conceptual designs and maintains the program architecture for build

  • Leads and implements manufacturing plans. Conducts producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirements

  • Assists in providing producibility information for inclusion in project plans and helps document producibility best practices

  • Analyzes design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions

  • Resolves technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule

  • Coordinates and implements new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts

  • Validates and ensures production readiness of solutions to complex problems

  • Implements lean principles and technologies

Additional Position Responsibilities:

  • Leverage background and experience in Manufacturing Engineering Processes and Tools to improve the ME Function and Deliverables

  • Apply sound Project Management skills to manage cost, schedule, and quality of deliverables

  • Document and communicate ME best practices

  • Conduct complex producibility and variation analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirements

  • Resolve complex technical problems

  • Deploy company Lean Enterprise analysis methods

  • Excellent teamwork and written/oral communications skills to effectively collaborate with various engineering disciplines, suppliers and customers

  • Technical problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis complete with sound engineering based corrective action

  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years working in a manufacturing/production environment

  • Working knowledge of ME processes and procedures including Manufacturing Execution System Computer Aided Process Planning

  • 3+ years' experience working with manufacturing engineering planning systems such as MESci and/or GOLD

  • 1+ years' experience in project management

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 7+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer

  • Strong understanding of BDS production program requirements, standards, and specifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing process plans (2D/3D) and standard operating procedures

  • Demonstrated mentoring and training experience related to ME processes

  • Experience in both assembly and fabrication environments including disciplines in electrical, structural, mechanical, systems, functional test

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
