Service Controller - Separation Service Division
Business Area: Separation
Function: Finance & Controlling - Service
Reports To: Vice President of Finance - Separation
Work Location: In-office, 5 days per week
Employment Type: Full-time, exempt
Role Purpose
The Service Controller provides end-to-end financial controlling and business partnership for the Separation Service Division, working closely with the management (especially service management) of the company. This position is responsible for financial accuracy, forecasting discipline, backlog and open-order integrity, SAP financial control, and audit readiness in a high-complexity manufacturing service environment.
This role supports a demanding and growing service business with tight deadlines, continuous data reconciliation, and high expectations for ownership, accuracy, and business acumen.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Controlling & Forecasting
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual service forecasting cycles:
    • FC0, FC3, FC6, FC9, and Annual Budget (BUD)
  • Partner with Service management to ensure forecast accuracy and financial transparency
  • Perform general ledger activities as assigned, including:
    • Accruals
    • Reconciliations
    • Variance analysis
  • Ensure compliance with ANDRITZ Group finance and controlling standards

Backlog & Open Order Management
  • Perform regular project reviews to ensure accuracy of backlog
  • Perform plausibility checks and detailed variance analysis (budget vs. actual)
  • Maintain continuous data cleanup and scrubbing of:
    • Service backlog
    • Open service orders
  • Ensure integrity of:
    • Revenue recognition
    • Cost alignment
    • Margin accuracy
  • Proactively resolve discrepancies and drive corrective actions with Service and Operations teams
  • This responsibility is ongoing and constant, not periodic

Business Partnership
  • Act as financial business partner to Service management
  • Support in strategic planning, strategy processes, and budgeting activities
  • Provide insight into:
    • Service profitability
    • Margin development
    • Forecast risks and opportunities
  • Apply strong business acumen to challenge assumptions and support decision-making
  • Communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders

SAP & Manufacturing Accounting
  • Operate as a manufacturing SAP finance expert for the Service organization
  • Ensure correct financial setup and maintenance of service orders, cost objects, and reporting structures
  • Apply manufacturing accounting principles, recognizing the higher level of complexity compared to non-manufacturing businesses
  • Support improvements in financial processes and system discipline

Audit & Compliance
  • Prepare and deliver audit-requested documentation:
    • Approximately 1.5 weeks for interim audits
    • Approximately 3 weeks for year-end audits
  • Serve as a key finance contact during audits
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance throughout the year

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) preferred

Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing finance or controlling
  • Prior experience supporting a Service organization within manufacturing strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • Forecasting and budgeting
    • General ledger accounting
    • Audit preparation and support
    • Managing backlog and open orders

Technical Requirements
  • Manufacturing SAP experience - required
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to manage complex datasets and continuous reconciliation activities
