Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Plant Controller is the financial partner to the Plant Manager and facility leadership team. This role owns plant-level financial performance - connecting day-to-day operational activity to financial results - and manages all accounting functions for the facility including AP, invoicing, supplier settlements, and month-end close.
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Performance & Analysis
  • Monitor and explain key metrics: Gross Margin $/lb, Cost $/lb, throughput, yield, labor efficiency, and purchasing performance
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve plant profitability
  • Develop and distribute weekly and monthly KPI reporting
  • Partner with Plant Manager and department leaders on operational decisions and financial impact

Budget & Spending Oversight
  • Maintain responsibility for the facility's fixed asset records, ensuring all equipment and other capital assets are accurately tracked, properly documented, and kept current in accordance with company policies.
  • Monitor budget-to-actual performance and escalate significant variances
  • Review purchasing activity and coding through Procurify
  • Support department leaders with forecasting and budget planning

Accounting & Transactions
  • Own accounts payable, customer invoicing, supplier settlements, and accounts receivable
  • Maintain account reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Support month-end close and financial statement preparation
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls

Plant Leadership
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison between the facility and Corporate Controller. Collaborate to ensure accurate, timely, and complete financial information is communicated for reporting, analysis, budgeting, and financial statement consolidation.
  • Translate operational performance into clear financial information for non-financial leaders
  • Participate in continuous improvement and future ERP implementation efforts
  • Follow 5S foundations for lean production processes

Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 3-7 years of accounting, finance, cost accounting, or manufacturing operations
  • Manufacturing, metals, recycling, foundry, or industrial environment
  • Strong Excel, ERP, and reporting systems; cost accounting and inventory transactions are a plus

COMPETENCIES:
  • Self-starter that takes initiative with a high attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
  • Ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines.

  • Physical Activity: Talking, hearing, repetitive motion, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, and climbing stairs
  • Physical Requirements: Sedentary work. Involves sitting most of the time.
