We are looking for an accomplished Controller to lead accounting operations and financial reporting for a contract opportunity with permanent potential in Montgomery, Alabama. This role is suited for a hands-on finance leader who can step in quickly, bring structure to core accounting processes, and deliver reliable reporting during an important period for the business. The ideal candidate combines deep technical accounting knowledge with strong leadership skills and can partner effectively with executives and cross-functional teams to support sound financial decision-making.
Responsibilities:
• Direct the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle to ensure financial results are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Prepare, review, and finalize financial statements in alignment with U.S. GAAP and organizational reporting standards.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, analyze account activity, and resolve reporting variances through detailed review.
• Track cash position, working capital, and key financial indicators, providing leadership with meaningful performance insights.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members while setting clear priorities, expectations, and accountability measures.
• Review existing accounting workflows, controls, and team structure to identify opportunities for stronger performance and better support during the transition period.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance practices to reduce risk and improve reliability across the function.
• Partner with FP& A, operations, HR, and senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and broader business initiatives.
• Drive process improvements through automation, reporting enhancements, financial system optimization, and documentation of procedures.
• Support strategic activities such as due diligence, acquisitions, and other high-impact financial projects as needed.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA designation is required.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership.
• Minimum of 5 years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or comparable senior accounting role.
• Strong command of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, and internal control frameworks.
• Demonstrated success leading month-end close and financial reporting in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience working with financial systems and reporting tools.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders.
