Assistant Controller

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and a small accounting team. This role will support the Controller and senior leadership with monthly and quarterly close, financial analysis, internal controls, audits, and process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field, with 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, internal controls, and account reconciliations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with ERP systems and complex accounting environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading, developing, and evaluating accounting staff.
  • Familiarity with regulated or compliance-driven environments preferred.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Ability to meet applicable customer, regulatory, or contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly close reports.
  • Oversee daily accounting activities and monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
  • Support the Controller with internal and external audits, tax reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Research and interpret applicable accounting and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate accounting personnel.
  • Support hiring, performance management, and employee development.
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and reporting.
  • Partner with other departments and senior leadership on financial matters.
  • Provide financial information and analysis as requested.
  • Support special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed.
  • Work additional hours when necessary to meet critical deadlines.
