Summary:

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the accounting operations of the company. This includes managing daily accounting activities, maintaining financial records, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards, and assisting with audits, budgeting, and forecasting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the management of the general ledger, including month-end and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records in accordance with GAAP or applicable standards
  • Assist with the preparation of internal and external financial reports
  • Support the annual audit process by providing required documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Help maintain and improve internal controls and accounting policies
  • Supervise and support accounting staff in areas such as accounts payable, receivable, and payroll
  • Ensure compliance with all tax and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Partner with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision-making

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably exposure to construction, restoration, or field services industries and percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis
  • Experience working with multiple entities, business units, or geographic regions preferred
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload, prioritize competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with operations teams and other cross-functional departments to provide financial insights and support business decisions
  • Self-motivated with the ability to think independently, exercise sound business judgment, and take initiative with minimal supervision
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the ability to build strong working relationships across the organization
  • Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
  • Public accounting experience is a plus, but not required
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 1–2 trips per month, as needed)
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen in accordance with company policies


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer and phone
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate office equipment such as keyboards, mice, and printers
  • Occasional lifting and carrying office supplies or materials weighing up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to bend, reach, and move around the office as needed

Working Environment:

  • Work primarily in an office environment with occasional travel as required.
  • Be prepared for occasional overtime to meet project deadlines or address urgent matters.


Salary: 100,000-115,000
