Manual Grinder Position Summary
The Manual Grinder is responsible for setting up and operating manual grinding equipment with limited assistance. This position will produce, modify, and prepare tooling to close tolerances and finish specifications while selecting appropriate grinding wheels and checking tooling for conformance to specifications.
1st Shift: Monday to Thursday, 5:00am to 3:00pm
Responsibilities
Manual Grinding Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate manual grinding machines after required training has been completed.
  • Manufacture basic to intermediate tooling, including but not limited to straight reamers, step reamers, and step drills
  • Prep tooling for Wickman machines
  • Braze tooling components as required.
  • Mill pockets for tooling according to specifications and job requirements.
  • Select appropriate grinding wheels based on material, tooling type, and operation being performed.
  • Read and follow drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements.
  • Use inspection equipment to verify dimensions, quality, and conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain accurate work records and communicate job status, issues, or nonconformances to supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing practices.

Qualifications
Manual Grinding Requirements, Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Strong knowledge of shop mathematics.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, work instructions, and specifications.
  • 1-2 years of related manufacturing, machining, or manual grinding experience preferred.
  • Basic experience operating or supporting manual grinding and related equipment, such as Monoset, Wickman tooling, or similar equipment.
  • Ability to use precision inspection equipment to verify conformance to specifications.
