Job description

Scope:

The Product Manager for the Strip business provides end-to-end commercial leadership for the Specialty Metal Products (SMP) strip portfolio. This role is responsible for driving profitable growth through market expansion, pricing strategy, and new product development. The position plays a critical role in shaping the business strategy by leveraging deep market insight, technical understanding, and financial rigor. This role reports to DVP, Sales & Marketing and projected to be based in Wallingford, CT. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, manage, and win avenues for strategic profitable revenue growth.
  • Drive to achieve the budget in terms of both revenue and profitability.
  • Oversight of monthly in-depth competitive analysis of sales price, volume, and lead-time comparison by customer.  
  • Product analytics which include market share and competitive landscape.
  • Reporting and forecasting for all Wallingford products cadences ranging from the weekly to monthly through five year business planning cycle. 
  • Establish and meet annual and quarterly sales forecasts.
  • Lead all aspects of new product development, this includes pricing, technology, vetting, target customers and process.
  • Develop strategic customer accounts and cultivate new business opportunities, including driving technology changes as market evolves.
  • Understands the nature of the of our products, technology, specifications, value added proposition for the customer and markets to effectively present to customers.
  • Position the company as the differentiated technical leader in its field and have the foresight to understand where markets, industry and technology are headed in the future.
  • Develop and execute a marketing plan to identify, nurture and communicate with our customers and prospects.  
  • Lead budget setting process with respect to capturing market share for current and new products.
  • Manage at least one Customer Service Representative
  • Provide product and application training for commercial functions, including sales, customer service, and marketing.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, such as Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience and/or strong aptitude in one or more of the following: Metallurgy, Process or Chemical Engineering, MIM, or specialty metal products. 
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Proven track record of setting aggressive targets and meeting business goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with multifunctional matrix teams.
  • Willingness and desire to be part of a fast moving, dynamic team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both externally with customers and internally at all levels of management.
  • Team player.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Previous Product Manager Experience a plus
