Qualifications:
  1. Education Level: High School Diploma
  2. Certification: In lieu of certification, must demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and solve hardware and/or software problems as well as solve basic network related problems
  3. Experience desired: 60 hours of industry specific technical training and/or experience in PC Repair, Networking or related field. Knowledge of basic construction techniques and use of power tools.
  4. Other Requirements: Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills as well as time management skills are necessary. Must also hold a valid state driver's license

General Summary: The General Technician provides district-wide technical and resource services in the installation, configuration, operation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of network hardware, computer hardware, peripheral equipment, and software for Windows, Chrome, and Apple devices; as well as cabling and installation for access control, surveillance, and security. This individual will install and troubleshoot wireless LAN infrastructure, and local-and wide-area network cabling. Diagnose network hardware and peripheral equipment. Provide user support training and assistance. Serve as a technical resource to other department staff.
Performance Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Reads and understands technical information.
  2. Analyzes, troubleshoots and solves hardware and/or software problems in stand-alone and networked environments.
  3. Installs system and application software on stand-alone and networked configurations.
  4. Resolves telecommunications and network wiring problems and conflicts.
  5. Assembles, erects, positions and labels items of equipment.
  6. Sets up system hardware components and peripherals.
  7. Maintains network print services and workstation access to the network.
  8. Assists network users with problems using network services.
  9. Takes responsibility for tools and plant and test equipment.
  10. Maintains and adheres to operational procedures and completes appropriate documentation.
  11. Serves as a resource person to District staff in the use of PC/network equipment and related software packages.
  12. Provides hands-on assistance and troubleshoots all PC/network equipment failures and service issues for all campus users.
  13. Communicates effectively to users and vendors.
  14. Remains flexible as this position experiences frequent interruptions.
  15. Requires concentration and attention to detail.
  16. Multi-tasks and meets time-sensitive deadlines.
  17. Maintains appearance and conduct suitable for working with students, other district staff and the public.
  18. May occasionally deal with distraught or difficult individuals.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  1. Requires prolonged standing, sitting, bending, stooping, crawling and other physical exertions.
  2. Required to work on ladders and roofs.
  3. Required to wear protective gear.
  4. Required to work outdoors in inclement weather.
  5. Required to lift and carry heavy supplies, materials and equipment over seventy (70) pounds.
  6. Requires safety and awareness of construction, repair and emergency sites.
  7. Required to take precautions to avoid exposure to potentially dangerous conditions and fumes.
  8. May be required to work on an "on call" basis and during off-hours for emergencies.
  9. May be required to drive between sites.
  10. May be exposed to high noise levels from machines.

Salary for 2025-26 starts at $18/hour plus health insurance; includes 12 paid holidays plus sick, personal, and vacation leave.
