The State of South Carolina is looking for a Security Architect - Consultant (Cloud Engineer)

The Department of Technology Operations needs assistance with supporting deployment and management of the State-Wide Information Technology Shared Services Cloud initiatives and projects.

Work Location: First week on site to get acclimated to team.  After that, consultant should plan 3 days per month onsite.  Remainer of time is remote. Onsite cadence will be scheduled with the manager after start.  Vendor partner needs to be aware they will be an onsite element and plan accordingly.

Candidate location: No South Carolina residency required. Open to nationwide candidates; must be able to work eastern time zone hours. All travel-related costs for onsite work will be the responsibility of the resource, regardless of the frequency of onsite work.โ€

Position Title:  Cloud Engineer                                       

Division: Office of Information Technology Services

Project Overview:

The Department of Technology Operations needs assistance with supporting deployment and

management of the State-Wide Information Technology Shared Services Cloud initiatives and

projects. This position will be used to further develop the State of South Carolina Cloud Strategy, work with State agencies for adoption and support the managed cloud broker.

Scope of the project:

Assist with day to day operations and migrations to AWS\Azure Cloud infrastructure as the organization transitions to a managed cloud broker.

Daily Duties / Responsibilities:

ยท         Perform system administration, automation, and development tasks for the Cloud Management Platform (CMP).

ยท         Work with DTO and customer personnel to facilitate migrations to the DTO cloud infrastructure.

ยท         Maintain continuity of shared services offered across AWS and Azure.

Required skills

 

ยท         10 years infrastructure, systems engineering, DevOps, or architecture

ยท         8+ years technical architecture

ยท         5-7 years AWS (IAM, Organizations, Networking Architectures, Cost Mgmt controls, etc.)

ยท         3-5 years Azure  (RBAC, Azure AD, Networking Architectures, Cost Mgmt controls, etc.)

ยท         3-7 years enterprise cloud architecture or governance

ยท         3-5 years Terraform and infrastructure as a code

ยท         3-5 years cloud migrations and platform operations

ยท         3+ years technical leadership and knowledge transfer

ยท         Public Cloud infrastructure expertise

Preferred Skills

 

ยท         Expertise in Terraform infrastructure as code, understanding of scaling technologies and solutions, experience with AWS or other clouds, familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, or other container platforms, security, penetration testing and threat detection tools, and experience wServiceNow, Datadog, Dome9, and/or Aviatrix.

ยท         Background in DevOps, Software Development, Site Reliability, or Systems Engineering. 

ยท         Experience with configuration management and continuous deployment.

Required Education:

 

Bachelor''s degree in computer science or information systems and 8+ years of technical architecture experience and relevant hands-on engineering.

Required / Preferred Certifications:

AWS and\or Azure certifications preferred
