Our client is seeking an IT Operations Engineer II for an exciting long-term contract opportunity. The IT Operations Engineer II supports the planning, engineering, deployment, and maintenance of secure, scalable, and reliable technology solutions across multiple departments and locations. Reporting to the Network Systems Manager, this role serves as a key technical resource within IT Operations, contributing to infrastructure projects and ensuring operational excellence across the organization's technology platforms. This position operates within a hybrid environment and requires strong experience with Microsoft enterprise technologies, including Microsoft 365, Windows Server, and identity management systems.
DUTIES:
Microsoft Platform Administration
  • Administer and support Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Windows Server.
  • Manage hybrid identity environments, including directory synchronization, authentication, and access management.
  • Support Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams).
  • Manage endpoint devices using Microsoft Intune or equivalent tools.
  • Utilize PowerShell scripting and automation to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Integrate Microsoft cloud services with on-premises infrastructure.
  • Support identity security best practices, including MFA, conditional access, and privileged access controls.

Infrastructure Engineering
  • Develop and execute technical designs, system specifications, and infrastructure architecture.
  • Design scalable and reliable solutions supporting multi-site operations.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Conduct system testing, pilot deployments, and technology evaluations.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Microsoft Technologies
  • Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Windows Server administration
  • PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Hybrid identity and authentication systems

Infrastructure & Networking
  • LAN/WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, DNS, DHCP
  • Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Storage and backup systems
  • System monitoring and diagnostics
  • Infrastructure documentation and architecture design

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, systems administration, and technical operations.
  • 5+ years of experience in M365, Windows Server, and Active Directory/Entra ID.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting hybrid (cloud and on-premises) environments.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.
