Reports To: Vice President General Manager, Fernando Bauermeister

Employment Type: Full-Time (Exempt)

Position Overview

Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. (SBS) is seeking an experienced, high-energy, and strategic Regional Events & Promotions Director to lead promotional initiatives, community activations, and experiential event marketing across our growing Central Florida, Tampa Bay, and Puerto Rico footprints.

In this multi-market leadership role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and executing revenue-generating live events, high-impact station promotions, on-air/digital contests, and grassroots street team operations. You will oversee operations across premier broadcast properties including El Zol 95.3 FM (Orlando), El Zol 97.1 FM (Tampa), and SBS’s market-leading radio and television network in Puerto Rico (including Mega 106.9 FM, La Nueva 94 FM, and Zeta 93 FM).

The ideal candidate is a creative strategist with deep roots in the Hispanic media landscape across both the U.S. mainland and the Caribbean, possessing strong cross-departmental leadership skills and a proven track record of driving non-traditional revenue (NTR) alongside brand engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Event Planning & Production

  • End-to-End Live Event Execution: Conceptualize, produce, and manage large-scale concerts, festivals, client activations, remote broadcasts, and community events across the Orlando, Tampa metropolitan areas, and the Puerto Rico market.
  • SBS Entertainment Synergy: Collaborate with SBS Entertainment to bring nationally and internationally recognized concert tours, flagship festivals (e.g., Día Nacional de la Zalsa, PR/FL concerts), artist appearances, and marquee events to local venues across Florida and Puerto Rico.
  • Logistics & Risk Management: Oversee event permits, vendor contracts, venue scouting, stage production, security protocols, insurance requirements, and budget reconciliation across U.S. stateside and island jurisdictions.

Revenue Integration & Sales Collaboration

  • Sponsorship Package Creation: Work directly with Regional Sales Directors and Account Executives across markets to build custom, monetizable event and promotional packages for local, regional, and cross-territory advertisers.
  • Client Pitching & Presentations: Participate in key client meetings to pitch experiential marketing concepts, premium on-site activations, and multi-platform promotional campaigns spanning Central Florida and Puerto Rico.
  • Post-Campaign Reporting: Deliver comprehensive recap decks, ROI metrics, and event photos/videos to sales clients to ensure high renewal rates.

Brand Strategy, On-Air & Digital Integration

  • Promotional Campaign Management: Align promotional strategy with Programming/PD teams to drive ratings, digital engagement, and brand loyalty across El Zol 95.3 FM, El Zol 97.1 FM, SBS Puerto Rico stations, and the LaMusica digital platform.
  • Digital & Social Media Amplification: Direct the promotional copy, social media teasers, mobile app push notifications, and website content related to station contests, ticket giveaways, and live events across all markets.
  • Contest Rules & FCC Compliance: Ensure all station contests, sweepstakes, and on-air promotions adhere strictly to FCC guidelines, local state/territorial regulations, and internal company policies.

Leadership & Street Team Operations

  • Multi-Market Team Management: Hire, train, schedule, and lead local Promotion Coordinators and brand ambassador "Street Teams" across Orlando, Tampa, and Puerto Rico market hubs.
  • Fleet & Equipment Oversight: Maintain station promotional vehicles, equipment (sound systems, tents, signage, staging), and merchandise inventory across all regional stations.
  • Culture & Execution: Foster a professional, safety-oriented, and high-energy brand presence at all public appearances.

Community Outreach & Industry Relations

  • Community Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with local civic organizations, non-profits, Hispanic cultural foundations, trade groups, and local government agencies in Florida and Puerto Rico.
  • Trade Partnerships: Negotiate media trades, venue partnerships, and promotional cross-promotions with local venues, theme parks, tourism boards, and entertainment centers.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in radio promotions, live event production, experiential marketing, or broadcast media management. Multi-market, regional, or international/island management experience strongly preferred.
  • Language Proficiency: Fully bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) is required, with deep cultural fluency in Puerto Rican media, island traditions, and diverse Florida Hispanic demographics.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Media Production, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with broadcast promotional tools (vCreative, PromoSuite, or similar contest management software).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel) and Adobe Creative Cloud/design tools.
    • Familiarity with social media management tools and digital analytics platforms.
  • Licensing & Travel: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and valid U.S. Passport. Willingness to travel frequently between Orlando, Tampa, and Puerto Rico offices and event locations.

Core Competencies

  • Executive Leadership & Negotiation: Ability to lead cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams, negotiate vendor contracts, and navigate fast-paced media environments.
  • Revenue Mindset: Demonstrated ability to connect creative promotional ideas directly to sales revenue and ROI for sponsors across multi-state/territory campaigns.
  • Problem-Solving & Crisis Management: Calming presence under pressure with the ability to troubleshoot production, logistics, or event issues on the fly.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work nontraditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the live events calendar.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
