Job description

Step into a Day Leading Food Safety and Quality

You report directly to the Plant Manager and serve as the point person for all food safety and quality systems across the facility. Your morning starts on the floor—verifying pre-op sanitation, checking CCP records, and aligning with Operations on the day’s production plan. By mid-morning, you’re conducting audit readiness checks as the facility’s SQF Practitioner, Food Defense Coordinator, and Recall Coordinator, ensuring documentation and practices are airtight. The afternoon brings cross-functional problem-solving with Purchasing, Product Management, Commercial teams, and Plant FSQA, followed by coaching, CAPA reviews, and a training session on GMPs, HACCP, and product quality standards. You close the day by reviewing KPIs and communicating performance and risks to senior leadership—reinforcing accountability where standards aren’t met.

Your Core Responsibilities
  • Continuously enhance and govern the site’s quality management systems.
  • Serve as the facility SQF Practitioner, Food Defense Coordinator, and Recall Coordinator.
  • Own Food Safety, Food Quality, and Sanitation programs—from design and implementation to training, verification, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Lead internal, customer, and regulatory audits and drive audit readiness every day.
  • Monitor production to confirm products meet specifications and customer expectations.
  • Investigate customer complaints, analyze trends, and implement durable corrective measures.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives to eliminate root causes.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Purchasing, Product Management, Commercial, and Plant FSQA teams.
  • Develop and deliver training on GMPs, HACCP, food safety, and product quality standards.
  • Track KPIs and report quality performance and insights to senior leadership.
  • Foster accountability and support disciplinary processes tied to food safety and quality standards.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Proven leadership in Quality Control/Assurance or Food Safety within manufacturing.
  • Deep knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, and modern quality management principles.
  • Experience leading audits and managing regulatory compliance programs.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and people leadership skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment.
  • Proficiency with quality management systems and related software.
Preferred Credentials
  • Hands-on experience as an SQF Practitioner.
  • Food Safety, HACCP, PCQI, or related certifications.
  • Quality certifications (ASQ, CQM, or equivalent).
