Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Manager to lead and oversee all quality and food safety programs at our food manufacturing facility. The QA Manager will ensure that all products meet or exceed regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality standards while fostering a strong culture of food safety and continuous improvement.

This key leadership role is essential for protecting consumers, safeguarding our brand, and driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs, including HACCP, Preventative Controls (FSMA), GMPs, and SQF/BRCGS standards.
  • Lead and manage the QA team, providing coaching, training, and performance development.
  • Oversee all aspects of quality control, including incoming raw materials, in-process testing, finished product inspection, and release.
  • Manage third-party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections (FDA, USDA, and state agencies).
  • Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances, and product issues; implement effective corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure accurate documentation, record-keeping, and traceability throughout the production process.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Warehouse, and Sanitation teams to resolve quality issues and drive process improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using root cause analysis tools and data‑driven decision making.
  • Develop and monitor key quality metrics (KPI’s) and report performance to senior leadership.
  • Oversee laboratory operations, including calibration, testing methods, and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable food safety regulations, allergen control programs (including gluten‑free production protocols), and environmental monitoring.
  • Manage the hold‑and‑release program for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Support new product development and commercialization from a quality perspective.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 5-8+ years of progressive QA experience in food manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, FSMA Preventative Controls, GMPs, and GFSI schemes (SQF, BRCGS, etc.).
  • Proven experience successfully managing regulatory audits (FDA, USDA) and third‑party certification audits.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high‑performing QA team.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, root cause analysis, and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management software.
  • Certified in HACCP, PCQI (Preventative Controls Qualified Individual), and/or SQF Practitioner is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or off‑shifts as needed.
Preferred Skills
  • Hands‑on experience with gluten‑free manufacturing and strict allergen control programs is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with high‑risk or ready‑to‑eat (RTE) foods is a plus.
  • Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement certification.
  • Familiarity with statistical process controls (SPC) and data analytics.
