Job description

WHAT YOU DO AT AMD CHANGES EVERYTHING
At AMD, our mission is to build great products that accelerate next-generation computing experiences-from AI and data centers, to PCs, gaming and embedded systems. Grounded in a culture of innovation and collaboration, we believe real progress comes from bold ideas, human ingenuity and a shared passion to create something extraordinary. When you join AMD, you'll discover the real differentiator is our culture. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world's most important challenges-striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond. Together, we advance your career.
The Role
AMD's Embedded Business Unit is seeking a Senior Software Program Manager to lead the execution of strategic software initiatives for next-generation Robotics platforms. In this high-impact role, you will drive the delivery of business-critical software programs that enable AMD's SoC solutions in the rapidly evolving robotics market. You will play a pivotal role in bringing innovative products to market by ensuring seamless coordination across hardware and software domains.
The Person
As a Senior Software Program Manager for Robotics, you will lead the planning and execution of complex, cross-functional software programs, delivering SDKs, software stacks, and integrated solutions that support new SoC product launches for key robotics customers.
You will own end-to-end software release execution, partnering closely with silicon engineering, platform product management, software development, performance engineering, validation/QA, and customer engineering teams to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery.
Success in this role requires strong leadership, technical fluency, and the ability to influence across organizations. You will build trusted relationships with senior engineering and business stakeholders, providing clear program visibility, driving alignment on priorities, and ensuring timely resolution of risks and issues.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Own and drive software program execution for strategic robotics platforms, ensuring SDKs, software suites, and integrated SW solutions meet scope, quality, and schedule commitments aligned with hardware milestones.
  • Lead cross-functional release planning for SDKs and integrated software stacks (features, target platforms, ROS/ROS2 support, AI/ML frameworks, perception pipelines, motion planning libraries, simulation environments, and reference applications) with software architects, product management, and robotics OEMs/system integrators.
  • Drive coordinated release readiness for Robotics software through core team meetings.
  • Report overall software execution and release status at senior leadership level and clearly communicate schedule changes, critical issues, and risks, along with mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Manage and own software-related escalations, setting up and running tiger teams, driving root cause and corrective actions, and ensuring timely, transparent communication to all stakeholders.
  • Align robotics software roadmaps (SDKs, reference stacks, integrated solutions) with AMD's technology roadmaps (SoCs, GPUs, AI accelerators, vision processors, connectivity, and platform features); lead migration strategies for customers on prior generations.
  • Support pre-design win and post-design win activities for strategic robotics accounts by providing credible software roadmaps, schedules, and feature commitments; coordinate early SDKs, evaluation kits, reference demos, and proof-of-concept implementations.

Preferred Experience:
  • Extensive experience leading large-scale software programs for SoC-based systems, ideally in Robotics, Autonomous Systems, or adjacent domains (e.g., ROS/ROS2, autonomous navigation, industrial automation, AMRs, collaborative robots, drones, or embedded AI systems).
  • Strong background in the software development lifecycle for robotics SDKs, middleware frameworks, and application stacks, including integration and release engineering for perception, planning, and control systems.
  • Proven ability to leverage AI-driven automation tools to optimize program delivery, including streamlining of requirements management, automated testing pipelines, and cross-functional reporting to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Proven ability to drive multiple concurrent strategic programs, managing competing priorities across customers, platforms, and product lines in fast-paced robotics development cycles.
  • Solid understanding of SoC architectures and common IP blocks (CPU, GPU, AI accelerators, vision processors, sensor interfaces, connectivity, safety/security IP) and their implications for robotics software enablement, real-time performance, and power efficiency.
  • Familiarity with robotics-specific technologies including computer vision, sensor fusion, SLAM, path planning, motion control, AI/ML inference, and real-time operating systems.
  • Exceptional communication and influence skills, capable of aligning diverse stakeholders-from engineers to executives-around complex technical and schedule decisions in the robotics ecosystem.
  • Self-starter with strong ownership and leadership qualities, energized by fast-paced, ambiguous environments and aggressive robotics product development schedules.
  • Primary owner for clear, concise messaging of software status, risks, and decisions to internal and external senior stakeholders in the robotics industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including structured risk management, scenario planning, and data-driven decision making in complex robotics system integration contexts

Academic Credentials:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with extended experiences in software program management, software development, or embedded systems.
