Student Employment Opportunity:Before & After School Group Leader (YMCA)
**This position is for current Palmer College of Chiropractic students only.
Function:
The Child Care Group Leader is responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of each child enrolled in the program, demonstrates leadership, and shows active participation in the program activities.
Organizational Relationship:
Lindsay Wadsager is the YMCA Child Care Program Manager and facilitates the hiring process. Palmer College of Chiropractic is responsible for ensuring that students meet Federal Work Study eligibility requirements and reporting any changes in eligibility to the YMCA Child Care Program Manager. Each program site has a site coordinator who is responsible for overseeing the work of student employees and verifying timesheets.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct supervision to children in the program.
  • Communicate appropriately with supervisor, participants, parents, coworkers and school staff.
  • Ensure safety to all participants, including knowledge of emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
  • Maintain and ensure a clean and safe program area.
  • Prepare incident reports accurately, consistently and in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Adhere to all State of Iowa required certifications and regulations for license child care programs.
