Job description

The Server will be working within a team environment, coordinating the guests' dining experience from start to finish. Ensure all guests receive immediate, personalized and professional attention. Ideal candidate will possess an outgoing, dynamic personality with a positive attitude. Must contribute to a team environment by taking orders, delivering food, restocking plates/silverware, clearing tables and resetting tables, and assists the restaurant team to ensure guests have an excellent dining experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Stock side station with juices, tea, ice and waters.
  • Set-up workstation tables with china, glass, silver, condiments, flowers and napkins.
  • Set tables, including tablecloth, flatware, china, centers and all other necessary items. Clear table of all necessary items and reset at a quick pace.
  • Stock stations, to include linen, and maintain their order and cleanliness.
  • Stock and polish silver. Check glassware and silver, inspecting for spots, residual soap and fingerprints.
  • Keep ice bins in kitchen, at bar and on floor full, returning ice scoop to proper location.
  • Make coffee and ensure that pots are full, properly marked and polished.
  • Stock adequate numbers of coffee cups and saucers inside stations, checking that they are clean and free of stains.
  • Check and maintain the stock of B & B's, caddies, creamers, clean towels, share plates, water glasses and water bottles.
  • Carry trays of dirty dishes to dishwasher and unload/rack properly.
  • Ensure coverage of the entrance, greeting arriving guests and thanking those that are leaving.
  • Check all menus for cleanliness and accuracy.
  • Answer the telephone, take reservations and give directions to restaurant.
  • Resolve guest problems whenever possible and directly communicate with manager.
  • Bring guests' needs to the attention of appropriate dining room staff or management.
  • Greet guests immediately upon being seated and offer beverages.
  • Answer questions regarding style, presentation, quality and price of all food and beverages.
  • Take the guests' food and drink orders.
  • Check identification of any guest whose age appears to be younger than 30, abiding by A.B.C. liquor laws responsibly.
  • Open bottle and pour wine, refilling glasses for wine, water and other beverages as needed.
  • Monitor alcohol consumption and behavior of guests alerting a manager of any intoxicated or questionable guests.
  • Observe guests' progress and respond in a timely way to their needs.
  • Place orders on a tray in kitchen with necessary condiments, carry orders to the table and serve to the correct person.
  • Strive to increase the guest check through suggestive sales techniques and alternatives.
  • Prepare guest check using point of sale system, collect and process payment correctly.
  • Maintain tables and station cleanliness, tidiness and order. Clean up all spills immediately.
  • Close side work by cleaning area, re-stocking supplies and refilling condiments.
  • Prepare back kitchen, stock supplies, make coffee and buff tables.
  • Set-up and break down special events, to include moving tables, chairs and other furniture as necessary.
  • Complete closing reports per shift and accounting of cash, receipts, credit card vouchers and all other closed checks for cashier depositing and night audit drops.
  • Remove used dishes and maintain tables during meal by replacing utensils as necessary and refolding napkins.
  • Transport food from kitchen to table in restaurant.
  • Ensure general housekeeping, including cleaning of fixtures, appliances, counters, dusting, and sweeping.
  • Follow Pebble Beach Company cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all Pebble Beach Company safety, health and general policies and procedures.

Absolutely Required Skills:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be available to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Food safety and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certifications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Desired Skills:

  • Previous serving experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of point of sale system helpful.
