What is the difference between Manager Part 91 Flying vs Flight Operations Manager?

AspectManager Part 91 FlyingFlight Operations Manager
CertificationsCommercial Pilot Certificate, possibly ATPFAA certifications, often including Part 121/135 experience
Work EnvironmentPrivate aircraft, corporate jets, on-demand flightsCorporate flight departments, airline support

Manager Part 91 Flying involves piloting private or corporate aircraft under Part 91 regulations, focusing on flying duties. In contrast, a Flight Operations Manager oversees flight safety, scheduling, and compliance without necessarily piloting aircraft. While both roles are integral to aviation operations, the former is hands-on flying, and the latter is management and oversight.
