Are you an experienced purchasing professional with a passion for marine industry? Meyer is looking for proactive Lead Purchasing Agent to join our team and play a key role to oversee procurement and production operations within the marine market. The ideal candidate will manage supplier relationships, source high-quality marine equipment and parts, negotiate contracts, plan manufacturing schedules, and ensure timely delivery to support company operations and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will source marine products, equipment, and services, maintain supplier relationships, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials to meet operational needs.

This role requires strong organizational skills, knowledge of marine products, a background in manufacturing production and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.



Schedule:

  • $60,000.0 - $65,000.00, based on experience
  • Stable schedule: 5-day work week
  • Monday - Friday
  • 8:00a.m. - 5:00p.m.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the purchasing team in sourcing marine products, equipment, and services, including boat parts, lifts, dock materials, and related supplies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and manufacturers in the marine industry.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve the best value and maintain favorable supply conditions.
  • Monitor inventory levels, track purchasing schedules, and coordinate with operations to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Evaluate suppliers' performance, conduct audits, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to identify purchasing needs and specifications.
  • Plan and schedule production of manufactured goods based on needs.
  • Analyze market trends, pricing, and product availability to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
  • Prepare reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance for management review.
  • All other duties assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in purchasing, ideally within the marine, boating, or related industrial markets.
  • International experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of marine products, equipment, and industry suppliers.
  • Proven experience in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with purchasing software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
