Job Summary

The Senior Manager/Director, Interconnection will provide oversight of the Interconnection team, which is part of the larger Transmission & Interconnection & Development Engineering department and the Development organization. This role will provide interconnection technical support to the entire business. This team is responsible for managing all interconnection queue positions supporting projects under active development. This includes handling all communications with ISO/RTOs and utilities and developing a comprehensive interconnection strategy for every development project. The Senior Manager or Director will play a critical role in enabling project bankability by optimizing interconnection positions, managing risks, and ensuring timely progression through ISO/RTO processes.

Responsibilities

· Management and oversight of the interconnection team, including Interconnection Engineers and similar roles.

· Lead all phases of the interconnection lifecycle: Application, Agreements to COD

· Oversee: Interconnection requests and submissions, milestone tracking, deposits, and deliverables

· Ensure alignment of interconnection schedules with overall project schedules and development targets

· Leadership of interconnection applications and study evaluations for utility-scale solar and battery storage queue projects.

· Oversee negotiation of final interconnection agreements and act as project manager to ensure all milestones in the Interconnection agreement are met

· Provide interconnection due diligence for M&A activities

· Coordination with internal and external teams to create new steady state, dynamic and PSCAD models for development projects.

· Provide technical support to the development organization and other areas of the company as necessary.

· Represent Urban Grid and advocates its interests in technical stakeholder organizations of various ISO/RTOs.

Requirements

· Master’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering preferred.

· Experience in PJM, MISO, SERC, TVA, WECC, BPA is preferred

· Proven leadership and management capabilities.

· Excellent verbal, written, technical and presentation skills.

· Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, problem-solving.

· Minimum of 7 years of experience in the electric utility or renewable industry.

· Understanding of power flow and other cost modeling tools including: PSSE, TARA, PROMOD or PowerWorld.

· Familiarity with major North American Transmission Service Provider OATTs and interconnection processes is preferred.

· Understanding of wholesale power market pricing and dynamics is preferred.

· Strong work ethic and exceptionally high work standards.

· Location: Hybrid in Houston, Texas (4 days in office, Fridays remote).

· Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Visa sponsorship or transfer visas, including H-1B or L-2, are not available for this position.
