Job description

Director of Technology Position
Your Next Opportunity Awaits

Responsibilities As Director of Technology, youโ€™ll report directly to the Founding Attorney and serve as the firmโ€™s primary technology authority. Your mandate is focused and consequential:
  • Lead the firmโ€™s AI strategy โ€” identify, evaluate, and implement AI tools that reduce the operational cost of delivering legal services without compromising quality or confidentiality.
  • Improve the client experience โ€” own every client-facing technology touchpoint: intake, portals, e-signature, communications, and transparency tools.
  • Improve the team member experience โ€” reduce friction, eliminate repetitive manual work, and equip attorneys and staff with tools that let them focus on high-value work.
  • Protect client confidentiality โ€” develop and maintain firm-wide cybersecurity and data privacy protocols that meet bar ethics requirements and earn client trust.
  • Keep the practice of law with our lawyers โ€” AI in this firm augments legal professionals; it does not replace their judgment. You will define and enforce the guardrails that make that distinction clear.
  • Manage the full technology stack โ€” including Clio, CoCounsel, Second Nature, Nextiva, and FormBuilder โ€” ensuring every platform delivers measurable value.
  • Drive growth through technology โ€” advise on marketing technology, CRM, lead management, and digital presence to support the firmโ€™s aggressive expansion goals.
Qualifications
  • Have 5+ years in technology management or IT leadership, ideally with legal or professional services experience.
  • Have handsโ€‘on experience with practice management software (Clio, MyCase, or comparable).
  • Understand AI tools well enough to separate real operational value from hype โ€” and build policies that govern responsible use.
  • Take confidentiality and attorneyโ€‘client privilege seriously โ€” not as compliance checkboxes, but as professional obligations.
  • Can translate complex technical concepts for attorneys and non-technical staff without condescension or jargon.
  • Are comfortable in a fastโ€‘moving, growthโ€‘oriented environment where priorities evolve and initiative is rewarded.
  • Have experience with cybersecurity fundamentals, cloudโ€‘based communications (VoIP/UCaaS), and document automation.
Bonus Points For
  • Familiarity with AIโ€‘assisted legal tools, including CoCounsel or comparable platforms.
  • Experience supporting marketing technology โ€” CRM, digital advertising, lead management, or SEO/SEM platforms.
  • Relevant certifications: CompTIA Security+, PMP, ITIL, or similar.
Why This Role Matters

Access to quality legal representation is often limited by cost. At Bolton Law, we believe AIโ€‘driven operational efficiency is how we change that โ€” for our clients and for the broader community we serve. The Director of Technology will be central to that mission, working alongside a leadership team that is genuinely invested in getting this right.

This is a senior leadership role with real authority, direct access to firm leadership, and a mandate to shape the technology culture of a firm that is growing fast and thinking big.

Compensation
  • $95,000 โ€“ $115,000 Yearly, commensurate with experience
Location
  • Spring, TX
  • Fullโ€‘Time
About Bolton Law Firm

We guide clients through their divorce and towards a better life. We are a family law firm undergoing significant growth. You must adapt well to change and be willing and able to see and point out opportunities for improved outcomes for our clients.

The position includes health, dental, and vision insurance. 401(k) matching. Vacation accrual.
