Job description

POSITION:                          Director of Student Services LOCATION:                        Educational Services Center AVAILABLE: ASAP COMPENSATION:            

$153,910 to $230,865 (Minimum/Maximum) based on experience

Benefits in accordance with Act 93 Agreement

DESCRIPTION:                 

The Director of Student Support Services is responsible for overseeing the administration and coordination of a wide array of student support services, including counseling, school psychological services, school health, and social work services.  The Director of Student Services shall also work to ensure learning environments are safe, inclusive, and welcoming to all students.   

Performance Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:

Leadership and Program Development

  • Coordinate counseling and mental health supports, behavioral intervention programs, health services, homelessness, and homebound instruction.
  • Oversee implementation of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Analyze student data to improve academic, behavioral, and social-emotional outcomes.  Coordinate the administration and analysis of the Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS).
  • Support implementation of positive school climate and student wellness initiatives.
  • Serve as the District's Title IX Coordinator regarding student-on-student investigations related to harassment and discrimination.
  • Work in collaboration with the Safety Supervisor to ensure oversight and supervision of the implementation of Crisis Intervention and Threat and Risk Assessment procedures across the district.
  • Support student attendance intervention and policy implementation.
  • Provide oversight of student health programming and nursing services.
  • Provide Professional Development for all student services staff (Social Workers, Psychologists, School Counselors, and School Health Professionals).
  • Assist in grant writing efforts related to student services programs and initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, grants, state submissions, and presentations for administration and the Board of School Directors including Chapter 339 Plan.
  • Provide oversight of the District's central registration process. 

Communication and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents, community agencies, and outside providers.
  • Facilitate professional development related to student services and legal compliance.
  • Respond to parent concerns and facilitate conflict resolution when needed.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets.
  • Monitor expenditures and allocation of federal, state, and local funds related to student services programs.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend School Board meetings and provide reports as requested.
  • Remain current on legal updates, PDE guidance, and best practices in student services programming.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Reports to: Superintendent of Schools

REQUIREMENTS:             
  • Education: Master's degree required; doctorate preferred in Educational Leadership, School Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
  • Certification: Pennsylvania Letter of Eligibility, Principal Certification, and/or Supervisor of Pupil Services.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of successful experience in education.   Administrative or supervisory experience required.
