About the role
Qalam Seminary is seeking a Head of Student Services to lead and manage all aspects of the student experience outside the classroom, reporting directly to the Associate Director. This role oversees the student services team, ensures students are well-supported throughout their time at the seminary, and serves as a central point of contact for student needs, concerns, and wellbeing. The Head of Student Services works closely with academic and enrollment teams to ensure a cohesive and supportive student experience.
What you'll do
• Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the student services team and its functions.
• Oversee student support services, including advising, wellbeing resources, and general student welfare.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce student services policies and procedures.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for student concerns, questions, and needs, ensuring timely and appropriate resolution.
• Coordinate student life programming and activities that support community and engagement.
• Monitor student satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve the overall student experience.
• Collaborate with academic affairs and enrollment teams to ensure consistent communication and support across the student lifecycle.
• Maintain accurate records of student services activity, cases, and outcomes.
• Escalate significant student concerns or disciplinary matters to the Associate Director as needed.
• Prepare regular reports on student services performance and operations for the Associate Director.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred, ideally in student affairs, counseling, education, or a related field.
• Several years of experience in student services, student affairs, or a related leadership role, ideally within a seminary, madrasa, or higher education setting.
• Demonstrated experience managing a team and overseeing student-facing programs.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive student matters with care and discretion.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Sound judgment in assessing when issues require escalation.
• Comfort working within a faith-based or mission-driven institutional environment.
