Job description

SMOOTH OPERATOR (Business Operations Manager)
LOCATION: 100% Remote with regular visits to HQ
ABOUT RAISE AWAY: we provide kick-ass fundraising solutions to nonprofits and schools, specializing in luxury travel.
OUR CORE VALUES: Fun, Unique, Creative
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Smooth Operator (Business Ops Manager)
Raise Away is growing fast. Our CEO is out here donating millions of dollars in trips, the team keeps getting bigger, and we're pushing into new markets. Growth like this is a fantastic problem to have. It's also the kind of problem that can slowly turn into forty open browser tabs and a calendar nobody fully understands. So it's time to build the operational backbone that lets us scale cleanly. That's where you come in.
You're the person who walks into a busy, fast-moving company and immediately clocks the ten things that could run smoother. You cannot unsee a bottleneck once you've found it. You probably have strong opinions about file naming, and you're right to. Most of all, you love the quiet satisfaction of a process so clean nobody even notices it's there. Fair warning though: that's the curse of great ops work. Do it right and it looks like nothing happened. We'll notice. We promise.
Officially you're our Business Operations Manager. Around here you're the Smooth Operator, and yes, we fully expect you to live up to the name. Your job is to keep the whole operation flying steadily as we grow. Tighten the systems, sharpen the workflows, plug the small leaks before they turn into big ones, and free up our CEO to chase the big vision instead of getting pulled into the day-to-day.
HOW WE'LL KNOW IT'S WORKING
  • Our CEO is out of the day-to-day weeds (and slightly suspicious about how easy his week got)
  • On-time project delivery sits above 95% in Asana
  • The leaks are plugged: fewer operational errors, fewer costs we never should've been paying
  • Monthly and quarterly targets get hit
  • Projects land on budget

A DAY IN THE LIFE
SOP Wizard
  • Audit every SOP across every department
  • Question the old processes and figure out which ones are just outdated habits nobody's challenged
  • Rebuild the broken ones using AI, the right tech tools, and Hubspot
  • Run an annual review of legacy SOPs to keep everything running clean
  • Own the full SOP book. You are the keeper of how Raise Away gets things done
  • Handle the rollout whenever an SOP is new or updated

Operational Management
  • Oversee Hubspot and tighten up the workflows inside each department
  • Find the friction and hunt down the bottlenecks in daily operations
  • Work across every team to make sure the handoffs between departments actually work
  • Manage the Raise Away Black Box, our internal home for all procedures and operations
  • Run root cause analysis to find what's broken and fix it alongside each team
  • Keep the operating cadence going: weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews with department heads and the CEO

Project Management
  • Get hands-on with projects across every department
  • Keep teams on track to deliver on time and on budget
  • Build out all company and department projects in Asana

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own and maintain the full SOP book, from audit to rollout
  • Rebuild outdated processes with the right mix of AI, tech, and Hubspot
  • Oversee Hubspot and keep workflows tight across the company
  • Hunt down bottlenecks, friction, and quiet costs, then fix the root cause
  • Run weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews with team leads and the CEO
  • Build out company and department projects in Asana and keep them on time and on budget
  • Project manage and ensure smooth take off and landing for all our launches
  • Manage the Raise Away Black Box
  • Ride a unicorn

Requirements
Proof of Work
  • 6+ years of senior operational management
  • 3+ years of project management
  • A "scale-up" background. You've helped something grow, not just kept it steady

Technical & Strategy Skills
  • Asana expert
  • Strong project management chops
  • Can architect and maintain Hubspot, not just click around in it

Benefits
WHAT YOU GET
  • A role at a Kick-Ass company
  • Unlimited vacation, Bali here you come!
  • Flexible work environment, 100% remote
  • Paycheck...the obvious one
    • $110,000-$125,000 starting salary (final number dependent on experience)
  • Travel to some amazing destinations around the world - we just got back from a company African Safari trip!
  • Benefits, yay! (Health & Dental & 401K & Life Insurance)
  • Passport Program. Get a Raise Away trip 1x a year on us, plus airfare!
  • Level Up. An internal fund to help you grow personally and professionally

NEXT STEPS
Here's what the hiring process looks like, assuming things go well with your candidacy.
  1. Application
  2. 20-minute pre-interview
  3. 30-minute interview with hiring manager
  4. 30-minute interview with Raise Away team member
  5. 45-minute interview with CEO
  6. Final assignments & assessments
  7. Offer!

TO GET THE PROCESS STARTED, SEND US:
  • Resume
  • Cover letter showing your personality. Seriously. No boring corporate bull shit allowed
  • A drawing of a paper airplane flying through the universe (not joking)
