Job description

The Senior Manager of Accounts Payable is responsible for maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions. The Senior Manager for Accounts Payable is also responsible for the development and oversight of the Accounts Payable functions. This position is responsible for providing leadership, creating security safeguard measures, establishing performance metrics and reviewing the performance of all Accounts Payable processes and personnel.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls including, but not limited to, safeguards against fraudulent business practices (both internal and external).
  • Maximizes return reserves and limits risk on cash by payment forecasting and minimizing cash balances.
  • Reviews the workload of AP team members - evaluates tasks & responsibilities for potential process efficiencies, ensuring tasks are assigned to the proper individual resulting in optimal performance of the team.
  • Optimizes processes and develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that document best practices and performance guidelines.
  • Establishes personal relationships with vendor AR contacts, leading communications on account management, issues and concerns.
  • Oversees the vendor reconciliation settlements, working with AP personnel and vendor AR contacts to minimize losses and create efficiencies in processes.
  • Ability to handle many analytical projects and responsibilities, with a focus on analyzing large volumes of data , enhancing procedures and directing AP team members on effective handling and follow-up.
  • Focuses on opportunities to improve existing reporting and develop new reporting to better identify & affect price variances, quantity shortages, receiving issues, proofs of delivery, EDI transmission errors, bank communications, etc.
  • Responsible for the assimilation of system and software enhancements, including organization upgrades, EDI transmissions, bank integrations and reporting.
  • Overall management of all accounts payable processes, including Publisher Payments, General Payments, Employee Expenses, Monthly Reconciliations and 1099s.
  • Handle elevated escalations from RDS staff and external vendors as needed.
  • Determine correct course of action necessary to resolve discrepancy claims.
  • Interact with Marketing, Procurement, Warehouse, Logistics and IT departments addressing operational issues.
  • Manage, facilitate and/or review reconciliations with trade vendors.
  • Facilitate and review AP GL reconciliations.
  • Arranges for audits as required and appropriate - oversees audit responsibilities either directly or through delegation to AP team members.
  • Oversees system testing responsibilities.
  • Hires, trains, develops and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation, optimization and ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for leading the Manager of Accounts Payable and indirectly responsible for the employees within the accounts payable department.
  • Provide support to the Senior Director of Shared Services as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned, directed, or requested.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field is required.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in managing an accounts payable department in a large-size company is required.
  • Strong to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and vlookups is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations is preferred.
  • Ability to understand the data flows between systems and within the operating system.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to speak with all levels of the organization and outside partners.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be proficient in basic mathematics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to do algebra, calculate figures and amounts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must be able to do basic statistical analysis.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • A methodical and organized approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in written or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • This role is primarily based in an office environment, with occasional travel outside the area, which may include overnight stays.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate at low decibels.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Salary: $110,000.00 - $128,00.00
