Oxy is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Community Relations & Employee Engagement Advisor within our Community Relations & Employee Engagement Department based in Houston, Texas.
The Community Relations & Employee Engagement Advisor is responsible for supporting and implementing Houston-area community investment, sponsorship, volunteerism, and employee engagement strategies that advance Oxy's business objectives, strengthen community relationships, and enhance employee pride and advocacy.
This position serves as a key liaison between Oxy, community partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful execution of community partnerships, employee engagement initiatives, volunteer programs, charitable investments, and corporate sponsorships throughout the Houston region. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders, employees, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders to create meaningful experiences that strengthen Oxy's reputation and social impact.
Job Duties
Community Relations & Partnerships
  • Support management of Oxy's Houston community investment portfolio, including charitable contributions and sponsorships.
  • Evaluate community investment opportunities and prepare recommendations that align with company priorities and business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and civic stakeholders.
  • Coordinate sponsorship benefit fulfillment, activation strategies, and partner communications.
  • Represent Oxy at community meetings, nonprofit events, volunteer activities, and public engagement opportunities.
  • Research community needs, trends, and emerging issues to identify opportunities for engagement and investment.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maximize the impact and visibility of community investments.

Employee Engagement & Volunteerism
  • Plan and execute employee engagement programs, volunteer activities, charitable campaigns, and employee recognition opportunities.
  • Coordinate employee volunteer events, including registration, communications, logistics, staffing, and post-event reporting.
  • Develop initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, advocacy, and connection to Oxy's community impact efforts.
  • Support employee-facing programs including ticketing opportunities, community partnerships, employee giving campaigns, and company-sponsored events.
  • Maintain employee engagement calendars and coordinate activities across multiple business units and locations.

Communications & Brand Management
  • Partner with Corporate Communications and Marketing teams to develop internal and external communications related to community partnerships and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Draft employee communications, newsletter content, event announcements, executive briefing materials, presentations, talking points, and impact stories.
  • Coordinate branding approvals and sponsorship benefit execution, including logo usage, promotional materials, advertising, social media, websites, and event collateral.
  • Identify and develop community impact and employee volunteer stories for internal and external communications channels.

Reporting, Analysis & Administration
  • Track community relations and employee engagement metrics, including volunteer participation, event attendance, sponsorship utilization, and community impact outcomes.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports demonstrating program effectiveness, business value, and return on investment.
  • Assist with budget management, payment processing, contract administration, and documentation related to charitable contributions and sponsorships.
  • Compile invoices, agreements, W-9s, impact reports, and supporting documentation required for payment processing and compliance.
  • Develop post-event reports and lessons learned summaries for key programs and events.
  • Maintain accurate records, databases, calendars, and tracking systems related to community relations and employee engagement activities.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives within the Community Relations & Employee Engagement function.
  • Attend evening and weekend events as required.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Human Resources, Corporate Responsibility, Sustainability, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in community relations, employee engagement, corporate philanthropy, nonprofit management, public affairs, communications, human resources, or related field.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with community organizations, nonprofit partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Experience planning and executing employee engagement or volunteer programs.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
