Faith Technologies Inc. (FTI) is currently seeking a Lead Test Engineer to join our Product Engineering team in Appleton, WI.
The Lead Engineer, Test is responsible for designing test programs, creating test plans to achieve the desired results and/or data, executing tests, ensuring that data collected is accurate and complete, and leading others on the team either directly or indirectly. They are also responsible for creating test reports and/or verify that reports written by other engineers and/or technicians are accurate.
They will perform a variety of tests, including electrical, mechanical, and software tests, to evaluate product and equipment performance against requirements defined in test plans and/or a DVP&R. They will also set up and provide input to the team to maintain the lab test equipment when necessary.
They will also be asked to remain up to date on industry standards, regulations, and technological advancements in the applicable industries, testing equipment and safety and making product and test equipment recommendations to expand FTI's technology offerings and testing capabilities. This position is a hands-on position at Excellerate Appleton Product Development Lab.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering
Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience with product testing experience preferred. Experience working with AC and DC power sources and related products and systems, including power converters, high-voltage and high-power equipment, battery systems, and battery management systems (BMS). Experience with lab test equipment and leading test activities and personnel for electrical products. Background in the energy sector with focus areas in microgrids, distributed energy resources (DER), power distribution systems and enclosures, and battery energy storage systems. Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and industry standards related to microgrid, power generation, and energy storage technologies. Experience with business systems such as ERP and PDM/PLM, and project management experience preferred. Preferred experience includes leading teams or individuals; managing large, complex projects; and working with products designed for UL certification. Proficiency with coding platforms such as Python, Rust, and TwinCAT, as well as familiarity with communication protocols including Modbus, CAN, and EtherCAT, is also preferred.
Travel: 5-10%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Works a sufficient schedule to meet the expectations of the role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assists and educates the team in creating product testing plans based on engineering requirements.
  • Prepares technical quotations, reports, and presentations.
  • Collaborates effectively with other engineers, production staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Processes data, documents, and reports key results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Provides coaching and development for team members through regular feedback, work opportunities, and training.
  • Collaborates with other functions within the organization to align goals and work to achieve strategic initiatives.
  • Identifies and diagnoses malfunctions and defects and directs necessary repairs or adjustments to both products and test equipment.
  • Identifies and communicates projects risks and develop mitigation solutions.
  • Researches, creates, and updates testing standards to promote best practices.
  • Understands related government and industry standards that govern the products being developed and tested.
  • Provides alignment and guidance with other functional areas of the business to ensure proper communication, risk mitigation, and deliverable handoffs are achieved.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, technological advancement, and regulatory changes to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of innovation.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
