The Staff Applications Engineer is responsible for developing and launching new products, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical expertise to both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and design product specifications using customer requirements, industry standards, and internal guidelines
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, sales, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure products meet market needs and are delivered on time
  • Act as a technical expert for internal and external stakeholders, providing guidance on product features, design, and implementation
  • Conduct product testing to ensure products meet quality standards and performance requirements
  • Lead the launch and introduction of new products, including training for sales teams, communicating technical specifications to customers, and tracking performance metrics
  • Manage the roadmap for future product iterations, staying up to date on industry trends and customer needs
  • Work with customers on product implementation, providing technical support and troubleshooting as needed
  • Act as a mentor for more junior team members, providing guidance and support on technical issues and career development

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably electrical)
  • 8+ years' experience in electrical and mechanical control systems, including reading architectural, mechanical and electrical 1-lines
  • 8+ years' experience working in an applications engineering or technical solutions role with a specific focus on energy storage, PV and other multi asset microgrid systems at entities like electrical contractors, engineering firms, project developers
  • 8+ years' experience working with sales/business development and project management teams in a technical sales enablement role
  • Ability to travel up to 40% to visit customer sites

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering; preferably with a power systems or power electronics focus
  • Excellent technical understanding of distributed energy systems architecture, interplay of energy storage specifically with PV and other assets like gensets, EVSE etc.
  • Well versed in energy storage applications, use cases, regional and national incentive structures
  • Solid understanding of and ability to read/create 1-line diagrams, sequence of operations etc. to support overall site architecting/microgrid design
  • Experience developing, utilizing, and maintaining commercial tools and processes related to storage system sizing, distributed energy systems techno-economic modeling and energy storage quoting/proposal development
  • Experience value selling energy storage, specifically in behind the meter applications
  • Project management experience.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented with associated project management skills
  • Maintain expert level of internal and external product knowledge on energy storage and broader Distributed Energy Systems
  • Demonstrated skills around being an energy solutions architect
  • Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial culture
  • Demonstrated caliber to take on open ended challenges and innovate by partnering internally and externally to create solutions
  • Ability to apply product knowledge and technical skills to solve application problems independently with minimum supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools, preferably in one or more distributed energy system techno economic modeling tools
