Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Stamping and Forming Simulation Specialist to join our Digital Manufacturing team. This role will be responsible for evaluating part designs through advanced simulation, estimating costs for stamping tools, assessing design feasibility, and conducting tooling design and reviews. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in CAD modeling, forming simulation, and stamping tooling with strong analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate part designs through incremental forming simulation to assess manufacturability and optimize designs
  • Estimate costs for stamping tools and provide detailed cost analysis for manufacturing projects
  • Conduct design feasibility studies to identify potential issues and recommend design improvements
  • Design and review stamping tooling, including development of addendums and pre-forms
  • Develop die processing plans and optimize stamping processes
  • Analyze material flow and forming characteristics to ensure quality outcomes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and quality
  • Create technical presentations and reports using Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Required Qualifications
Technical Skills:
  • Expert-level CAD modeling and surfacing proficiency (5+ years required)
    • Unigraphics NX preferred; Catia acceptable
    • Advanced experience developing addendums and pre-forms for tooling designs
  • Incremental forming simulation experience (2+ years required)
    • Autoform preferred; Pamstamp or Dynaform acceptable
  • Stamping tooling design background (7+ years required)
  • Stamping tooling processing experience (5+ years required)
  • Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Thorough understanding of forming and material flow principles
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
  • Journeyman Tool & Die Maker certification is a plus
