Job description

Salary Range: $68,500 - $108,00 (Tech III)

What your job will be like: This position will provide manufacturing leadership skills in two SRFOPS areas - Brazing and Sputtering and TechShop/metal forming. The position will provide operational management skills in concert with scheduling from management, engineering and other customer groups. In both areas, the work shall include all phases of the operations from initial evaluations and recommendations to specifying part and process conditions, performing process operations and assisting with sourcing components from internal and external supply chain sources. In the case of TechShop, operation and maintenance of forming dies is required. You will act as the Department Lead for brazing and sputtering and metal forming to the SRFOPS activities. You will train less experienced technicians and prepare them for support roles in brazing and sputtering and metal forming tasks. The position will also participate in the generation of assembly schedules and plans and strive to meet project completion deadlines. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for accurate documentation and compliance with all requirements of JLAB ESH safety and environmental regulations. In this job you will:
  • Assist in evaluating equipment for maintenance and capital upgrade activities.
  • Review technical data package for feasibility, process development, material requirements, risk and scheduling.
  • Coordinate delivery of fabricated components for job processing in brazing and sputtering operations.
  • Perform braze and sputtering operations with understanding of process limitations based on material compatibility and other considerations.
  • Provide upkeep for furnace equipment, vacuum systems, analytical and measuring equipment in operations area.
  • Complete process documentation for quality, technical management and any ES&H safety requirements.
  • Provide technical review for defect evaluation and failure mode analysis.
  • Maintain supplies in braze compounds, filler metals, fixturing and special requirements.
Experience
  • Required: 9 or more years experience in direct performance of operations
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma
Experience and Education Exchange

Education above the minimum may be substituted for experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expertise in brazing operations, alloys and vacuum furnaces
  • Expertise in reading and working with engineering drawings and models.
  • Expertise in press forming and metal fabrication operations using draw dies and related tooling.
  • Ability to independently develop solutions pertaining to the fabrication issues and operations support.
