Ready to make a real impact in a high-growth, technically driven environment? We're looking for a dynamic Business Development Engineer to lead commercial strategy and execution for our Magnetic Product Line — including transformers, inductors, and related assemblies—across the North American market. This role is central to driving revenue, innovation, and long-term growth.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management and R&D to develop product policies aligned with market expectations. Dive deep into BOMs, understand cost structures, and liaise closely with procurement.
  • Lead business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and expanding existing accounts in partnership with the sales team.
  • Provide direction to Sales and Engineering during prospecting, pipeline development, and new product introductions.
  • Partner with R&D to shape and maintain product and technology roadmaps.
  • Make strategic decisions on which opportunities to pursue.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to RFQs and proposals, setting pricing strategies aligned with market dynamics.
  • Develop and propose pricing structures—including product-level, account-based, and value pricing—subject to approval from Finance, the GBU leadership, and the Exxelia USA GM.


Key Functional Areas:

1. Sales Support / Sales Enablement & Project Management

  • Drive sales growth and customer acquisition for the Magnetics business unit in North America.
  • Grow and manage the lead pipeline, ensuring consistent follow-up and opportunity advancement.
  • Identify new applications and customer segments for product expansion.
  • Create sales tools and train Exxelia USA Sales Managers, Manufacturing Reps, and Distributors on product offerings, value propositions, and target markets.
  • Steer the Rep Network and Regional Sales Managers toward high-potential opportunities to maximize effectiveness.
  • Influence customer requirements by presenting alternative technologies aligned with Exxelia’s strengths.
  • Build pricing proposals based on materials, labor, margin targets, and market positioning.
  • Define negotiation strategies and actively engage in key negotiations.
  • Ensure timely and coordinated responses to RFQs in collaboration with Sales and Customer Service.
  • Track and report on quote/proposal activity, maintaining KPIs.
  • Support Regional Sales Managers in presenting strategic opportunities to executive leadership.
  • Provide technical support to Sales throughout the engagement cycle.

2. Product Portfolio Management

  • Monitor and analyze market trends, prospects, customer needs, and competitor activities.
  • Share competitive intelligence and market insights with key internal stakeholders.
  • Develop business plans for assigned product lines with input from Engineering and R&D.
  • Define pricing policy and strategy, with finance and GBU management approval.
  • Develop competitive differentiators and articulate product value propositions.
  • Create and maintain Strategic Business Plans for product lines.
  • Contribute to the global Technology & Product Roadmap alongside the R&D team.

3. Strategic Management

  • Aggregate and analyze business and market data to support strategic decisions.
  • Set annual order intake (Bookings) targets.
  • Participate in Strategic Business Planning and Reporting processes.

Role Requirements:

  • Strong foundation in electronics, especially magnetics, passive components, or power electronics.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Defense, Civil Aviation, Medical, and/or Mass Transportation sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; MBA preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and listening.
  • Proactive, team-oriented mindset with strong business acumen.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 30%+.
