Key activities include launching new products and services, managing the existing portfolio of products and services, and executing end production and service. The team operates in a global and cross‑functional environment and has frequent interactions with customers, sales, engineering, marketing, and operations.

Power Solutions & Distribution Engineering in Delaware, Ohio, is looking for a motivated, highly technical Transformer Engineer to design and test transformers and inductors for our three‑phase power distribution products. The Transformer Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and lifecycle support of power transformers and magnetic components used in power distribution systems. The role spans from concept through production, working cross‑functionally with manufacturing, quality, and program teams. The magnetic designs range from 50 kVA to over 1000 kVA. We are looking for someone with experience in high‑frequency power inductor design (greater than 3 kHz) and distribution transformer design. You will be part of a dynamic team that will be developing the future regional and global product lines.

Responsibilities
  • Design magnetic components for power distribution products, including transformers, chokes, other inductors, and current transformers to meet specifications for power, configuration, size, cost, efficiency, and manufacturability.
  • Support manufacturing facilities to develop fabrication and testing techniques for magnetic components.
  • Test prototype components to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Analyze magnetic component failures to determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Review new materials, design, and manufacturing technologies and recommend adoption for promising technologies.
  • Provide design assistance to our global engineering teams, including participation in concept and design reviews and support our global manufacturing centers.
  • Provide authoritative technical leadership to engineers and other team members.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in power and magnetics.
  • A minimum of three years’ relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Transformer design fundamentals (core, winding, insulation)
    • Loss calculation (core/copper)
    • Thermal modeling and dielectric design
  • Skilled in the use of electromechanical simulation, analysis and design tools such as OPS, Ansoft, or similar.
  • Familiarity with FMEA.
  • Thorough knowledge of agency and compliance (e.g. UL, IEEE, NEMA) requirements for magnetic components.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills; ability to manage multiple assignments productively; ability to work in a challenging, team‑oriented environment.
  • Ability to collaborate on a global scale.
