The Role

Reporting directly to the VP, Development, you will join our team in a hands-on execution role designed for someone with a background in construction, engineering, planning, finance, or commercial real estate. You'll support the full development lifecycle across multiple projects in multiple markets, gaining real exposure to how investment decisions drive development and construction outcomes. This is not a passive role. You’ll own responsibilities from day one and be expected to grow with them.

Primary Responsibilities

•      Own building and development permit submissions end-to-end, including planning, research, form completion, city submissions, and follow-up tracking

•      Own project gas, power, and telecom servicing application with a focus on tracking consultant progress

•      Financial analysis and pro forma work to assess viability of real estate opportunities and development decisions

•      Prepare development budgets and key milestone schedules

•      Track and manage consultant deliverables (architects, engineers, planners, lawyers) with proactive follow-up to protect project timelines

•      Administration development tendering, contract and quoting processes

•      Maintain detailed project documentation and files across multiple active developments

•      Support construction project coordination including drawing review, responding to clarification requests, obtaining stakeholder approval for ancillary design requirements

•      Assist with asset management of existing portfolio of income producing assets

What We're Looking For

•      Background in construction, engineering, planning, commercial real estate, finance, or a related field

•      Genuine curiosity about real estate development and how projects create and protect value

•      An understanding of financial underwriting and/or real estate investment principals

•      Strong attention to detail and organizational ability; you can manage complexity without losing track of the details

•      Ability to thrive under pressure and perform in a fast-paced environment

•      Proactive problem-solver who knows when to ask questions and keeps moving forward

•      Demonstrated ambition and a willingness to invest effort beyond minimum expectations

•      Reliable follow-through; do what you say you will, without reminders

•      Exceptional skills with MS Excel, knowledge of AI tools

The First 90 Days

You'll independently manage permit submissions with high accuracy and minimal oversight, establish a reliable system for tracking consultant deliverables, and prove you understand our processes well enough to be trusted with delegated responsibilities. More importantly, you'll begin connecting how operational decisions link back to the investment thesis and start to participate in the strategy planning for future work.

Long-Term Opportunity

This role is designed as a foundation for growth. The right candidate will have the opportunity to grow and excel in this role, eventually taking over project leadership as a development manager. You'll work directly with real estate entrepreneurs, experienced professionals and gain exposure to every phase of the development lifecycle, from land acquisition and feasibility through construction and asset management.

Why This Role Matters

Our developments are complex, capital-intensive projects involving dozens of stakeholders over multiple years. Because we're vertically integrated, you'll see directly how decisions at the development level flow through construction and operations and ultimately affect investment returns. This role puts you in the middle of that process — learning how real capital is protected and created in real estate development.

What We Offer

•      Direct mentorship from development professionals who think like investors

•      Exposure to all phases of the development cycle across multiple concurrent projects

•      Understanding of how investment discipline drives operational and construction decisions

•      Fast-paced, high-performing culture with clear expectations and measurable growth

•      Direct access to senior leadership and real decision-making

•      Potential to grow into a Development Manager role as you demonstrate results

•      Experience across wood frame multifamily development at meaningful scale
