Help drive excellence in modern policing. The Carmel Police Department is looking for a strategic thinker who thrives on solving problems, improving processes, and turning data into meaningful action. In this high-impact role, you'll lead nationally recognized accreditation efforts while providing the analytics and performance insights that help shape operational decisions, strengthen accountability, and support one of Indiana's premier law enforcement agencies.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the department's CALEA and ILEAC accreditation programs, ensuring compliance with nationally recognized law enforcement standards.
  • Manage the department's policy and written directive system, coordinating policy development, revisions, implementation, and documentation.
  • Analyze crime trends, operational activity, and performance data to identify opportunities, support strategic initiatives, and improve service delivery.
  • Develop executive dashboards, statistical reports, and performance metrics that provide leadership with actionable insights.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of NIBRS and other required reporting through data audits and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with command staff on strategic planning, organizational initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Coordinate accreditation assessments, provide employee training, and serve as the department's liaison with CALEA, ILEAC, and other professional organizations.
  • Research emerging trends in law enforcement, accreditation, and analytics to recommend innovative solutions and best practices.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement administration, accreditation, data analysis, or a related field, including at least three (3) years in a law enforcement environment.
  • Experience using business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset, attention to detail, and a passion for continuous improvement and organizational excellence.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications, including NIBRS, IDACS, and Laserfiche.
Why Carmel?

At the Carmel Police Department, innovation, professionalism, and service go hand in hand. Our team is committed to excellence, continuous improvement, and delivering exceptional public safety services to one of Indiana's most vibrant communities.

Here, your work will directly influence departmental strategy, strengthen accountability, and help shape the future of policing through data-driven decision making and nationally recognized accreditation standards.
