Job Description:

Responsible for the direction, coordination, and oversight of all general laboratory sections to include specimen collection, hematology, coagulation, Blood Bank, chemistry, and other lab sections. Responsibilities include but are not limited to monitoring test reporting, quality control, quality assurance, policies, procedures, staffing, supply management, equipment installation, new test implementation, and inventory control. The Lab Manager must be able to coordinate with other departments both within and outside of the laboratory. The Lab Manager will be responsible for staffing, training, and oversight of all technical and phlebotomy staff. The Lab Manager is also responsible for maintaining administrative, customer, employee, physician, and vendor relations. The Lab Manager shall ensure that lab services follow best practices with a focus on quality, efficiency, and cost containment. Responsibilities also include maintaining CAP and State inspection readiness at all times. The Lab Manager will be over multiple locations and works under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Administrative Director and the Medical Director. This position will have multiple sites that require oversight.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in related field with Board certification recognized by the State of NV

Experience:       
Three years laboratory leadership experience in acute care hospital. Experience working with medical staff, administration, and nursing departments. Experience and demonstrated knowledge of regulatory agencies, project management, staffing/scheduling inventory management, and accreditation of laboratory operations.

License/Certification:
State of Nevada General Supervisor

Technical Skills:
Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office and Cerner LIS. Previous Cerner Millennium training preferred 

 

Other:
Managed care, utilization and standing order experience is preferred.
