Job description

The Software Configuration Management Lead is responsible for ensuring aircraft configuration compliance with FAA and Industry requirements. Beta is looking for a Software Configuration Management expert to lead the development of all necessary systems and processes that will drive us forward as an Aerospace OEM. The Lead will work closely with the Airworthiness, Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to implement and operate configuration control processes for full aircraft development of Software Systems.  They will administer the regular meeting and agenda of the Problem Resolution (PRB) and Change Review Boards (CRB). This person will work as a focal point with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure that the software configuration of all aircraft products is fully defined, traceable, and auditable for the complete lifecycle of all developed aircraft.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Co-develop and implement a full set of company level aerospace software configuration management plans, processes and documentation for the development and certification of new aircraft platforms
  • Ensure maintenance of all type / production design configurations for full-service life of configured products
  • Establish a process to produce full configuration for any required software configurations or software asset builds to support FAA (or other authority) audit
  • Administer and coordinate the Problem Resolution and Change Review Boards and relevant related configuration processes and activities
  • Coordinate correct definition of change scope & effectivity for hardware and software to maintain correct configuration definitions of all aircraft and verification assets
  • Help to grow and develop the software configuration management team to support aircraft development and certification according to schedule
  • Support and training for process stakeholders in relevant BETA software configuration and software change management processes and systems

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience working in Aerospace Configuration Management and or Program Management role
  • Background in supply chain, quality and or engineering to understand how these systems interact with Configuration Management
  • Knowledge & experience in FAA certification/compliance requirements related to software configuration management
  • Knowledge & experience in ARP 4754A and EIA-649
  • Experience in RTCA DO-178C or RTCA DO-254 requirements for software and hardware configuration management
  • Preferred BS in a relevant engineering or quality discipline or equivalent education and experience
  • Experience as an administrator with ALM (Polarion) and PLM (3DExperience) or equivalent ALM and PLM systems valued
  • Passion for safety through quality in both design, software development, and manufacturing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers
  • High energy, self-motivated, organized and detail oriented

  • End to end experience with certification and launch of newly developed aircraft products
  • Strong problem solving and root cause corrective action investigation background
  • Actively involved in thousands of changes within a test program
