Overview
This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following location(s): Arizona and North Carolina.
This position allocates technical resources and associates within Enterprise Payments Technology organization. Manages an associate team to ensure the effective delivery of operational support, service, custom development, software vendor management, and project results. Oversee the design, implementation, integration, enhancement, and support of systems and applications supporting Real-Time Payments (RTP), Trade Finance, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), Insurance, and other critical business functions. Partners with peers, senior management, business units, software vendors, and associate teams to align initiatives, projects, and technology solutions with broader organizational goals while ensuring operational stability, regulatory compliance, and business growth.
We seek an experienced Software Development Engineering Manager to join our Payment Technologies Solutions team to provide technical leadership on strategic projects. You'll develop an A-team with a culture of performance, recognition, and collaboration.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a cross-functional team of technical resources of developers, Analyst and QA testers, including contractors, and strategic vendor partners.
  • Project and Product Management - Provides direction and oversight to IT projects and products. Assigns project tasks, drives project schedules, product releases, and conveys results or updates to the appropriate parties. Develops and utilizes methods of tracking performance.
  • Managerial Functions - Establishes and monitors expectations to achieve company and department goals. Makes appropriate changes to IT policies, standards, procedures, and efficiencies in order to meet objectives. Manages the performance, training, and evaluation of assigned staff. Maximizes department achievements by providing professional development. Ensures bank needs are met through prioritization and resource allocation. Supports budget forecasting, capital planning and invoicing.
  • Business Support - Directs programming, business analysis, or testing activities, including the determination of scope, time and cost estimates, and system impact within user requests. Facilitates system modifications within existing system architecture and assists with architectural changes as necessary. Elicits and refines business technology roadmaps, including setting priority and understanding cross team impacts.
  • Technical Expertise - Serves as a technical expert and strategic leader to senior management, associates, and business units. Ensures that team activities comply with all appropriate configuration, change controls, and security standards. Participates in business meetings and special projects to provide insight on end-user needs. Keeps abreast of industry trends. Identifies and holds accountable vendors in support of system updates and maintenance .

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Applications development, applications analysis or systems engineering OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Applications development, applications analysis or systems engineering
Preferred Skills:
  • Minimum of 2 years of tech leadership
  • Agile mindset with Payment Technology experience in Faster payments and Trade Finance
  • Strong Banking/Payments Industry knowledge with experience delivering on large modernization/transformative efforts
  • Ability to influence the architecture and design
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot production issues
  • Outstanding Communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with TDD and CICD delivery
  • Experience in working with COTS and SaaS solutions
  • Experience with on prem distributed systems as well as Cloud technologies (AWS is a plus)
  • Hands-on Experience with Java/J2EE, Javascript frameworks, Restful Webservices, web applications, JSM, transactional databases, SQL/ NoSQL databases
  • Experience with enterprise integration services/solutions
  • Experience and exposure to API gateways
  • Experience building cloud enabled MicroServices and REST APIs
  • Implementation experience with SAAS/PAAS based solutions
  • Experience with regulatory guidelines (FFIEC, FDIC, etc) governing the financial industry
  • Experience building and maintaining large software platforms, client and employee enablement initiatives
