Description:

Help with event management and building assistance at the ISU Alumni Center!

Requirements:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with managing events, meetings, and conferences in the Alumni Center.
  • Set up, operate, and inspect audiovisual equipment and materials for events.
  • Supervise and perform room setups, event management, and event cleanup.
  • Assist with client, vendor, and caterer questions during events.
  • Manage the building during weeknight and weekend events.
  • Open and close doors for events.
  • Check the building for temperature control, sidewalk clearing, and general building readiness.
  • Monitor the building for any problems and alert the building contact person(s) of any problems or emergencies.
  • Monitor the building for any custodial work and supplies needed; perform needed work.
  • Understand all emergency evacuation plans and know proper procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be registered as a student at Iowa State University.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly during a scheduled shift.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Basic mechanical/maintenance experience
  • Computer/AV experience
  • ServSafe certification

Scheduling:

This position requires a flexible schedule to include daytimes, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Must be available Fridays after 5:00 pm, all day Saturdays and Sundays, and work an average of 12-18 hours per week. Shifts will be scheduled during school breaks. Must be available at least three weekends per month, or as needed based on event schedules.
