Position Description
Position Overview:
The Asphalt Emulsion Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of an asphalt emulsion manufacturing facility. This position oversees the production of high-quality asphalt emulsions by monitoring raw materials, operating plant equipment, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions:
The following list is intended to be exemplary of the functions and physical demands of the position, however it is not exhaustive of all day-to-day activities. The incumbent will be required to perform any or all the following in a given day or week:
  • Operate and monitor asphalt emulsion production equipment, including mills, tanks, pumps, heating systems, and automated control systems.
  • Manufacture asphalt emulsions according to established formulations and production schedules.
  • Receive, inspect, and unload asphalt cement, emulsifiers, polymers, acids, and other raw materials.
  • Adjust formulations and process parameters to maintain product quality.
  • Complete production records, inventory reports, batch documentation, and shipping paperwork accurately.
  • Coordinate product loading for tanker trucks and verify shipping documentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate raw material needs to management.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting on plant equipment.
  • Maintain housekeeping throughout the plant to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow all OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety policies.
  • Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Respond to emergency situations including spills, equipment failures, or production interruptions.
  • Assist with training new operators as assigned.

Position Requirements
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or vocational education preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and inventory management.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, loaders, or other industrial equipment (or willingness to obtain certification).

Work Conditions:
This position is located in a manufacturing environment and as such a candidate must be able to tolerate moderate to loud noise level (PPE will be provided), long hours standing, walking, and laboring outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Physical Demands:
  • Frequently stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work around hot asphalt products, chemicals, moving equipment, and industrial noise.
