Ecommerce Search and Discovery Strategy

About the Role
A person who knows e-commerce search will shape how shoppers find the brand, whether through regular search engines or new AI-driven tools. This strategic role partners with internal copywriting, development, analytics and merchandising teams to drive SEO, AI search optimization (AEO), content strategy and measurement.
Responsibilities
Develop and own the international SEO and AEO roadmap.
Identify emerging search trends and prioritize high-impact initiatives.
Optimize for AI search experiences including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews.
Partner with Ecommerce Manager, developers, copywriters, and brand to improve discoverability across category pages, PDPs, FAQs and educational content.
Create executive dashboards covering organic revenue, AI referrals, rankings, share of voice and technical health.
Recommend technical SEO improvements including structured data, Core Web Vitals, internal linking and Shopify best practices.
Develop content briefs and topic clusters with brand and internal copywriters.
Monitor competitors and search algorithm changes.

Ideal Experience
5+ years leading SEO strategy and execution for an ecommerce DTC brand.
Experience developing SEO roadmaps and executive reporting.
Strong knowledge of Shopify SEO, multi-county stores and technical best practices.
Experience measuring and optimizing AI search visibility (AEO), including AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or similar emerging platforms.
Experience with international SEO/AEO optimization (country targeting, hreflang, localized content)
Excellent analytical, strategic, and communication skills.
